Just get an on/off switch from radio shack or local auto parts and solder in line with the thin red wire. Better to have an on/off switch.

Yes, click the start transmit on the computer then hold the button on the cable till you see the bars flash on the transmit gauge. it could take up to 5 sec. or so.

Lyen, carries that type of connector, Also ebikessf sells them. it is called the mini xlr. I guess its just an ebike version. IDK I like them, i use them for my throttle , 3 speed switch and halls. They fit better in a small wire harness. Woops , i just seen your in the UK so i dont know...
