    LiFePo4 BMS Options

Yeah, it sure looks like mechanical damage. There is even a scratch on the board where it dragged across something. I'm sure I did that at some point. Thanks for the kind offer on the parts but I can probably reuse the existing resistor as it appears to be in one piece. If you think it will...

    LiFePo4 BMS Options

Yeah, I didn't see it until I took the picture and enlarged it on the computer. My eyes aren't that sharp anymore, lol. Now that I know it is there, I can see it with the naked eye. I can solder, but not sure I can do that fine work. Would definitely need to find a good strong magnifier.

    LiFePo4 BMS Options

Well, I found the problem when I took the pictures. It really looks like physical damage, I'm just not sure how the heck that happened. One SMD is completely missing, another is hanging on by a thread. Looks to me like they were physically torn from the circuit board. No signs of arcing or...

    LiFePo4 BMS Options

dfar, that looks like a great BMS solution but is a bit pricey for my application. Sounds like you have a pretty sweet rig though!

    LiFePo4 BMS Options

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I tested each cell with a handheld multimeter and they all test fine. The pack is well balanced. I checked and doubled checked the continuity of the balance leds with an ohm meter between the cell terminal and the JST connector and they were fine. So...

    LiFePo4 BMS Options

I'm not really sure what happened. There are no visible signs of damage on the board. The BMS cut power to the controller during a short ride with a full charge. The board shows one red LED. I will post some pics tonight.

    LiFePo4 BMS Options

I've been off the boards for almost a year (just enjoying my e-bike). Anyway, the Signal Lab BMS I was using on my 16S Headway pack died. I'm riding bareback for now while I look for a replacement. What are people using these days for packs like this?

    cell-log

In for one. Thanks. Interesting that while I was sitting there looking at the page a box popped up offering me a discount of about $2. I took the offer. Worth a try. It said something like "I noticed you've been looking at this page for a while...".

Interesting battery set for sale on ebay

Looks pretty bulky for 130v, 6ah or am I missing something?

Low voltage limit for LiFePO4 packs?

As others have said, Headways are a good choice because they can give you the 40amps you need without building a crazy high amp-hour pack for such a small ride. They are certainly bulkier than Lipo but nothing like as bulky as lead-acid. You should be able to hang them in a bag or box...

How to auto-disconnect the battery from controller

Gawd, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I road my bike a few times early this spring and then we had about two weeks of solid rains. When the weather finally cleared I discovered that I had left the battery connected to the controller after the last ride. 7 of my 16 Headways were dead. The...

    Any experience with LiSO2 Batteries?

Are they primary batteries? Must be. Edit: Yep, just confirmed they are primary. Dang it!

    Any experience with LiSO2 Batteries?

Our company is changing out the batteries in all of our AEDs so I have the chance to pick up 6 of these guys that are about 4 years old...

    NOOB BATTERY OPTIONS ?

You might have a look at the cell_man 15ah LiFePO4s. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14832&start=210 Assembly isn't going to be as easy as the headways.

    Where to buy headways?

Agreed Dogman. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that anything here was done intentionally. I would assume they had the best of intentions unless it is proven otherwise. Sad day for our community.

    Where to buy headways?

"However, it appears that EV components basically "took the money and ran" like you would fear from a group buy organizer, and frodus and other employees defected as a result of this dishonesty." They did? Sheesh. When did that happen?

    NOOB BATTERY OPTIONS ?

If you are looking for something in the 48v 10ah range it is hard to beat the Headways for ease of build. Tons of good information in the Headway pack builder's thread. I'm loving my 48v Headway pack. The problem with the cylindrical A123s and tool pack batteries is that you need so darn...

New version 24s balance charger from HobbyCity cheap!

Help a noob understand how these might work. For example, I have a newly built 16s 10ah headway pack. I was planning on building a Fetcher/Goodrum BMS once the new board becomes available. In the mean time I'm charging with a 15s tenergy LiFePO4 charger and monitoring the discharge during...

    Tenergy 48v LiFePO4 charger question

I've got about 5 cycles on my pack and so far so good. Most were only about 20% one was probably 60%. After one of the shorter runs 15 of the cells were 3.33 and one was 3.32. Good stuff these Headways. Edited to fix a typo

    Tenergy 48v LiFePO4 charger question

The charger came in yesterday and I gave it a try. It charged my 16S headway pack to 53.7v which works out to 3.36v/cell as measured about 5-hours post charge. Russell, is that about the same resting voltage as your 15s pack? I'm not using a BMS, btw; waiting for Gary's new version to come...

    LED 'fuel gauge'

My guess it that it works fairly well with lead acid but less so with other chemistries. Sounds like it is just measuring voltage drop with use. Lead acid has a very predictable voltage drop, other chemistries less so.

    Headway 38140se Epoxy Repair

@Scoot. I'm selling my stand-up scooter. It was fun for a couple of years but I've decided to go the stealth route and electrify my bike. I picked up and e-bikekit.com kit and 16 headways. I'll be running a "manual" BMS for now along the lines of what was discussed in this thread...
