    MAC 8T on 16S lipo?

Hi Steve, No I was in west Auckland and had a couple of hills but now in Wellington. The MAC was awesome on the hills, they were about 500m long and about 10-12% gradient from memory and it just powered up them at about 40kph with my assistance. I cruised at 50kph on the flat for the rest of my...

    MAC 8T on 16S lipo?

Where in NZ are you Steve? I'm in Wellington, I have a Mac 8T in a 26" wheel. I have a 16s LiFePH4 and it tops out at 50kph. It's a great set up but I don't ride it much now as my commute is 30km compared to the 5km that it was.

    Mac hub help

That looks identical to what my MAC 8T was doing. I contacted Cellman and he sent me a new replacement clutch. I managed to free up the original clutch after swapping it out with a technical tap from a hammer.

Stealth Electric Bikes Launch in NZ this Weekend

Good to see them available locally, i also would like to have a blast on one but i think the price is outrageous, even taking into account shipping from Australia and exchange rate differences.

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

I've got the MAC 8T motor, 9 FET controller and 48V (16S) 9.2Ah LiFePh4 battery from Cellman. It's fitted to a 26" wheel hardtail Trek and does 50kph on the flat, and will sustain it for about 30km with me providing some pedal assist. That includes a couple of small but steep hills which it...

Giant Comp DH bolt on build

That's pretty much what I was interested in. I figured it was being used as a commuter or fast street cruiser from the tyres. 30 miles is useful range imo, particularly for such a capable bike. I agree with what you say about the speed...my Trek/MAC set up tops out at about 30mph and I find that...

Using a MAC with a seized clutch

I rode my MAC with a seized clutch for probably 1000km until I replaced it with a serviceable clutch, there were no issues with it.

    Alpe d'Huez on an e-bike?

With all the talk about Pikes Peak and alternative hill climbs I was wondering if anybody has ridden up the Alpe d'Huez on an e-bike? It looks quite formidable!! 8.5 miles with 21 hairpins!! Average gradient 7.9%; Maximum gradient 14% Start altitude 717m; Finish altitude 1850m.

Good to see another Trek / Mac combo. Very functional looking. How's your 'economy' during your commute?

Q100 high speed on KHS Urban Soul

Yeah, I needed some decent power to get up a narly hill to and from work so went for the Mac. I'm very happy with it. Done about 1600km so far. That kit you have seems like really good value...got me thinking about options for future builds!! Ride safe, cheers.

Specialized Enduro Comp E-Bike with 9C hub

Looking good! You must have clocked up a few km's by now...how's all the gear holding up? I don't do a great deal of km's as it's only 5km to work and i only ride 3 times a week. Done about 1200km on my Mac Trek hardtail setup...still enjoying it though. The guys at work have stopped giving me a...

MAC motor - possible bearing issue

What indications did you get that something wasn't quite right?

MAC motor - possible bearing issue

Another thing i've noticed is that the motor has about 0.5-1.0mm of lateral play on the axle. The motor moves quite freely side to side up to 1mm. i don't recall seeing this previously. Is this movement normal? Have any other Mac motor users noticed this?

MAC motor - possible bearing issue

Thanks for the responses. I'll investigate the tire deformation further. I recall when i fitted the tires last year i couldn't get either of the brand new Schwalbe tires to fit the rear rim properly...no matter what i tried i just couldn't get the tire bead to sit in the rim all the way round...

MAC motor - possible bearing issue

Requesting help with the following problem. My MAC motor / rear wheel fited to a Trek hard tail feels like it has a bad flat spot. It's done about 1200km since new, the rear tyre has never fitted the rim perfectly and has always had a slight flat spot as a result. This was only noticeable on...

Giant Trance Dual Suspension daily commuter build

How do you find the Trance compared to the Anthem? I'm looking to buy a used Giant Trance or Anthem and thought you would be able to make a good comparison of the frames. I figured the Trance would be the better option as it has more suspension travel and a slower steering geometry so better at...

    1st build Mac / Trek

Does anybody know if the Infineon EB3 controller Cell Man supplies is compatible with the thumb throttle he supplies? The thumb throttle came with an EB2 controller that was all supplied as a kit, but i now have the EB3 and want to use my old thumb throttle with a separate 3 speed switch with...

    1st build Mac / Trek

Had a near miss of sorts yesterday...i'm lifting the bike out of the bike rack at work and the seat post nearly snaps off just above where the clamp is!! It was held on by a small bit of alloy at the front. So i figure i'll ride home without pedaling and take most of the weight on my legs. Made...

    1st build Mac / Trek

Have now received some parts from Cell_man and fitted the new clutch and Falcon EV triangle bag. Has transformed the bike!! It's much more agile to maneuver and feels lighter. The new clutch now actually freewheels compared to the old one which was frozen although i did manage to unfreeze it. I...

Specialized Enduro Comp E-Bike with 9C hub

Classic!! I know Wellington is pretty liberal and a cosmopolitan type of city...and this just proves it!! I very nearly bought a 2808 kit from Kiwi but opted for the Mac 500w from cell man in the end. I'm very happy with it...fast, light-ish and reasonably stealthy. I wanted to fit hookworms...
