Converting AC PSU to DC-DC for 12V lighting

There are two transformers, big and small. One on each side of the daughter board.

    Increase slightly charger voltage

Nah. Output voltage is less than 60Vdc so its considered an SELV. No need to discharge the output caps. Its not like those X-caps on the AC line that bleeder resistors are needed to drain the voltage to a safe level after turn-off.

Converting AC PSU to DC-DC for 12V lighting

Yes in front of the Bridge diode via small diode. If you were to read carefully I posted this: with a question mark "+ diode on the component side?" I initially suspect that a diode links R9 to the bridge's ac pin. You don't see it because its on the other side of the PCB (component side) :)...

Converting AC PSU to DC-DC for 12V lighting

Oh, that's good news :D . Main converter can work, just need enough signal to fully enable it. This also confirms that you have a diode connected to one AC line to R7, R8 and R9. Only one direction will forward bias this diode so only works when your DC input+ is connected to AC line where this...

Converting AC PSU to DC-DC for 12V lighting

I believe you have two separate Converters. The 5V standby and your 12V main converter. Standby will power up just fine and works at a lower input voltage than the main converter. The main converter has AC line monitor (R7 R8 and R9 + diode on the component side?), this may be the reason it...

    Increase slightly charger voltage

That's good news. looking on the board again, i bet they are... if the charger is turned off, so the output relay - means no voltage on the output plug. Some SMPS needs small dummy load to stabilize the output at no load condition specially those PWM ICs with burst mode function. At burst mode...

    Increase slightly charger voltage

You can measure the voltage across R7 or R6. I think those are dummy loads for the output.

I don't want to try that as yet. I opt to leave it alone :D Have checked the charger's manual and it should prompt error and terminate the charge cycle. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/84734390X447211X18.pdf Thanks for highlighthing

    Phase and sensorcables wiring

Observe the example standard settings in the supplied .zip file. Please note that when programming the 6 or 9 fet (EB306, EB309), unless otherwise advised, you should select EB312 in the Board Type drop down menu. When programming a 12 fet EB312, select EB312 from “Board Type” menu, but set the...

Software sent. You need to change some of the extensions as email servers won't allow executable files. Have broken down to several emials to see what was causing it to be blocked.

    Phase and sensorcables wiring

Yes No need as dogman mentioned EM3ev's controllers are CA compatible. I own 2 sets of them-used on my 2 builds :) ... You can program the controller's LVC too so you can have 2 levels of protection. 1st from the CA, 2nd on the controller. Paul(EM3ev) sent me a software to flash my controller...

2013 Electrical Systems-Close Call & Lessons Learned Thread

Thanks... Initially planned to use SMD fuses but i just used what i have on hand In my experience it will carbonize pretty fast when there is a short. Underside PCB of the carbonized chip will burn a bit but should not spread on the whole connector. By the way the PCB is UL94 V-0 cert and...

Yeah. Thanks. It should be fine, I used bigger package for the main charge wires and smaller for the balance wires. I charge at 4.3A only.

Sorry for your hand wannesd.... For me, I cover the exposed test lead of my multimeter with a shrinkable tube. Only the pointed portion left open. After I melted some connectors during charging, I decided to build a single plug-in charge cable and used a DB37 connector. Cut a small PCB, mount...

    Show off your lipo setup!

Here is my Lipo Set-up: 18S1P, 5Ah or 3 6S turnigy 20C in series. It is housed in a camera bag (and yes the bag comes with padding). Hacked the Quattro charger so they function independently - this way i can charge without disassembling the pack, avoiding human error and the risk of fire of...

I think the 25th wire can be the pack's ground. You can confirm by continuity test. How much does your pack weigh?
