    I'd choose the BBSHD if I were planning another bike, for the torque. That helps you get off the line at traffic lights and for a modest 2lbs is more future proof.     With how I ride, I can get about 25 miles from my 16ah battery, and 15 with my 10ah battery. I've seen other people post BBS02 wh/mile numbers around 3x more efficient than that, so if long rides are your concern, I'm sure you can do better than this.
