    Infineon XC846 72V 45 Amp Controller

Got it! Thanks for sending via express mail, Knuckles. It looks really good. The build quality is much higher than my old C-lyte version 2. I'll try to figure out how to hook it up, including my cruise contol, this weekend. I think your instructions pretty much cover it all, except perhaps...

    Infineon XC846 72V 45 Amp Controller

Knuckles, What's goin' on w/ the delivery of my Infineon controller? You quoted a 2 week delay but we are now at about 6 weeks since I paid you. In the meantime, I've purchase so much gas for commuting in my pickup truck that I could've bought a Kelly controller a couple of times! Thanks...

    Version 2 Crystalyte Controller information

They are way cheaper than C'lyte and, hopefully, way more reliable than my C'lyte ver. 2 controller. I think my Infineon will ship from China any day now. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5713

    Version 2 Crystalyte Controller information

Fechter's the expert but, on my board, all three leads of the blow FETs were shorted. Just ohm them out and you'll see zero resistance across any given pair of leads. Of course, that's not all that blew on my board. I'm waiting for my new controller to arrive from Knuckles.

Smoked 2nd controler - need repair pls

I feel your pain! That's exactly where my controller smoked a few months ago; the FETs go and the power plane and / or vias to the other side of the board blow. I had to repair them with solid copper wire and replace the two FETs, gate transistors and resistors, etc. It just blew in the same...

My C'lyte contoller FETS fried again today. Same two FETs and It was on the same long sustained hill climb at 20 mph as last time. The controller was strapped to the front of my bike in full airflow--about 80F ambient temperature. I'm running a 5304 and Yesa "48v" pack. Maybe Knuckles can...

    Version 2 Crystalyte Controller information

I finally ordered the transistors from DigiKey. Great company! They charged me only for actual U.S. Postal postage. I didn't think any mail order stores did that any longer because they can skim additional profit in "handling" charges. After replacing both the PNP and NPN transistors with...

Then they should work for me too. I bet I still have something fried on my board. More ohm meter work!

The old schematic shows a 2N5551 for the NPN side. Is this part okay, fecter? http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail?name=MMBT5551FSCT-ND Thanks, -Cal

That's great news, monster! I might order the exact transistors you used, instead of the locally available NTE parts that I put in my board. I measured the hfe (Ibe to Ice current gain) on my NTE parts at 65, which is a bit lower than the spec for your parts (hfe 100 min, as I recall)...

    Version 2 Crystalyte Controller information

I hope you get better results than I saw--three lights: http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3896#p57235 Which means FET problems. Could be some other failures I've not found on the board too, I guess. I hear the motor energize (brrgnn sound ;)) but no movement. Also, I...

Fecter knows way more about controllers than I know about them but this is a Ver. 2 so best to check. I de-soldered two good transistors (NPN and PNP) and tested them with my $4 Harbor Freight special multimeter. I can't remember which one's which and I think I've had my Ts and Ns and BHD 1F...

I hear ya'! I've been holding off on soldering my three transistors in the hope that fechter might take another look at it. If you have an ohmmeter, you'll see what I'm saying. If we assume the "N" and "T" transistors are compatible with the MMBT5401 and MMBT5551, respectively, then the FET...

The FET control has definitely changed in Ver. 2. I think the pinout of the MMBT5401 might not work. The lone "center" pin of the SMD transistor package is connected to the gate of the FET. This should be the PNP emitter. The lower right pin of the SMD transistor is connected to the...
