    LTC6811 Implementation Thread

I've got this to the stage where it can now balance cells over multiple iso bus slaves. logging voltage every minute, accessable via a web interface. not yet talking over can. I'll be doing a pcb revision soon to clean up the layout to make assembly easier...

    LTC6811 Implementation Thread

Anyone managed to get anywhere with this? I've just finished designing a low parts carrier for this. So far I can measure cell voltage and do 50mA per cell and 200mA per pack about to start testing isobus chaining then looking at writing a standalone balance firmware for the esp32 master...

    Another lebowski Controller

Made a few changes to zombies layout with a new bus made out of 1.2mm copper sheet black is battery -ve and red is battery +ve. Modeled the controller in solidworks with a quick water cooling block.

    Another lebowski Controller

Ahh yes, thank you. I did have a look at the datasheet and all the examples had that pin disconnected but it has an internal pullup. sweet thanks, solved that problem.

    Show off your lebowski controller

Let's see if we can't get this back on topic :D Just starting my development. Essentially 150v 20Kw motor driver I am not entirely sure what I am doing, But there is so much info on endless sphere. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=91723 just in the designing stage.

    Another lebowski Controller

Hey Guys. Aiming to build a motor controller over the summer(Aus) for an electric car. Current battery is 24s2p, once everything is up and running I will be aiming for 30s(120v nominal) or so. Planning an 18 fet controller. 12-15Kw Continuous, 20-25Kw peak for starters I believe I should be able...

Lebowski's motor controller IC, schematic & setup, new v2.A1

Woot, Just ordered two of these. Plan to put them in a smart car with zombies mosfet driver. I have a question about the CAN bus. Can regen be controlled from the can bus? I couldn't see anything about it in the manual.

Time to design a 3kw 100v motor controller

OT the charger, here are the files i did them in eagle. the controller is still a work in progress, and will go above the fet's

it was a synchronous buck converter

Time to design a 3kw 100v motor controller

i have now ordered a copy of zombies driver board to have a look at, will be ordering the BOM soonish

Time to design a 3kw 100v motor controller

IGBTS require voltage > ~400 to be efficient. on a bike that is painful. im not planning on using the ac-35, they just had nice dyno graphs showing extended torque at highter voltages. im willing to swap to 100v and see how it goes. doesn't require that much effort to rewire the pack
  12. B

Time to design a 3kw 100v motor controller

yeah cool, ok i thought the extended torque range might be worth the switching performance. i'll rewire the pack for 24S

Time to design a 3kw 100v motor controller

yeah, does seem that way, makes a charger easier. hmm deffently some food for thought but this is what has me a bit concerned, have a look at the range of usable torque At 96v, torqure drops off at 3000rpm...

Time to design a 3kw 100v motor controller

3kw, yes it is. i was originally planning to go with ~150v volts, but i fount a 10kw nisson leaf module that fits where my petrol tank used to be. it's a 48s2p(180v nominal 200v max), i could make it a 90v nominal pack, but that was getting a bit low for my liking. what would you recommend...

Time to design a 3kw 100v motor controller

hey, i looking at designing a 3kw motor controller for a bit of practice before i try at a 15kw continuous for a car. from reading arlo's and zombies i will be using Lebowski's controller. i have a bunch of these (ixth88n30p) lying around, i know these aren't the best and should probably get...

    Nissan Leaf 24cell bms connector?

thanks,i went at measured it today, i believe they are 2.28mm(0.09") pin spacing same as the mx7.

My new 18 FET TO-247 layout riding video page 10

hey Zombiess, ive been looking at designing my own but your look like a very nice and well layed out design. i would love to use you design and modify it to work with 200v battery 100-200 amps. cheers

    i2c BMS for hobbyking lipos

you should be able to remove one of those opto couples, and maybe combine 2 of those dual opamp into one quad. you seem to be trading part count for price, you don't need a Darlington array to turn on the pnp's 6 2n2222's would cost 6c

    diy bms

The problem with those chips is the price. I will be monitoring 48s with this. 4 per board was a simple number that made life easy and cheap these boards cost under $4 in parts. Adding a $10 chip is a large change. It would be nice to have some of the features in hardware tho. Will see as time...

yeah, i have updated the boards to reduce the current draw on the main cell when discharging other cells. the cells i am using these on are 60ah. so the 50uA doesn't matter. i would perfer to have one cell discharge then all 4 if i am using a linear reg. these ones do have a spot for the linear...

    diy bms

yes i am using the internal reference, will be making a calibration program for each chip. im not worried about the atmeg8's draw, it will be sleeping most of the time. but the resisters on the op amps are causing a difference draw, something like 150ua,200ua,200ua,150ua
  23. B

    diy bms

i have now assembled this on the bread board and i can't stop the uneven current draw, hmm. good thing it can balance it on the plus side a 10aH cell with the most discharge should take approx 40 000 hours to discharge. 4.5 years. time to order the pcb's

    diy bms

each board is only monitoring and balancing, the master could control a relay and have hv/lv cutoff the board will cost me 3.5 in parts at qty of 10 theoretical accuracy is 4.39mv +- calibration +- tolerances, so should be less then 50mv it has a atmega8 so it would only need one arduinoMega...

ive been designing a bms, was hoping for some feedback. should work from 0 - 4.5v cells using 1 atmega8 per 4 cells. with serial feedback, to a master
