BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

I went from stock to bbs-fw, back to stock for a few months and now I use bbs-fw again with my bbs02. So no, you cannot backup the original firmware but you can download it from the internet and flash it back.

BBS02 vs BBSHD - how much can you alter programming also

Just keep the BBSHD and get a programming cable. Stock programming is garbage but you can adjust it exactly how you like and then it's very good.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Almost I think. The github one seems to come with these new features: Implemented global throttle speed limit option. #112 Added options for light output (Default, Disabled, Always On, brake Light) #160 Increase max configurable speed to allow configuring 100mph when using imperial units. #170

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Not possible and it would be even worse I think. Bike would just keep accelerating faster and faster until it outruns your pedaling. You need to set PAS power so that you can still pedal with resistance. When you need more power, change to higher PAS level (that's why different PAS levels are...

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

BBS02 is currently not working with this firmware. There are changes on github already that should fix this problem (issue #114) but it is not released yet. Hopefully BBS02 will be useable when v1.4.0 gets released.

Yes. Wiki has all the info you need Configuration Tool

User profiles (BBS02B, BBSHD) for BBS-FW (Daniel Nilsson's Open Source Firmware)

Yes that is correct, pas 0 + lights button switches between normal and sport mode. That way you get 20 pas levels. For that you need BBS-FW of course.

BBS02B shift sensor fixed in 1.3.1

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Oh I don't have a shift sensor, sorry. Try to set Shift Current Threshold to 1% or maybe 0%.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

I was in the same boat but I finished my new 12S li-ion battery and really needed that lower voltage cutoff to use its capacity. Then the 1.3.0 came out so I risked it and now I don't really want to go back :) 18 PAS levels, working throttle + PAS with no hardware mods, controller temperature on...

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

If you mean bbs-fw then there is only one file to download. Inside it you will find 3 folders called BBS02, BBSHD and TSDZ2. If you are not sure which firmware to pick for BBSHD, then I would not really recommend trying to flash it. Otherwise all the instructions you need are in the wiki on github.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

kb_79: there is no 52V version motor, 52V FW just allows you to use higher voltage battery without throwing an error AFAIK. I could not find any other (48V) firmware. The battery level indicator might be a bit off with the 52V one, not sure. Matze_Senpai: cruise works fine and just like the...

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

There is no way to backup original firmware but there is some firmware available if you google CRR1094824E010015.3_170815.hex I did not test it personally.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

Same thing as in stock bafang firmware - motor PAS power decreases when you pedal too fast / you get more power when you pedal too slow.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

When flashing the firmware, yes. But you can change parameters in the config tool without power cycling the controller I think.

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

I think so, yes. I only use 20A max with my 25000+km BBS02B.

Official 1.3.0 released. Flashed and so far working.

Cycle life tests of High Energy density cylindrical cells

BTW I was deciding between 48X and 50G and I found 2 datasheets for the 48X. The newer one (marked as 05 Nov. 2019 V2) said: While the older(?) one says: So the 50G 80% @ 1000 cycles 4.2V->2.5V cycle life actually looked better to me on paper.

Cycle life tests of High Energy density cylindrical cells

I think 50S got moved to other thread called "Cycle life tests of High Power density cylindrical cells". It "died after 952 cycles in the 1C test" which is maybe not that surprising because it is rated as: Capacity ≥ 2,940mAh @ after 250cycles (60% of the standard capacity) - Charge : 6A...

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

When you guys say "BBS02", do you mean BBS02A or BBS02B or both the BBS02 rev A and B?

Cycle life tests of High Energy density cylindrical cells

Let's say we keep the lab parameters the same for all cells. There are ways to destroy a cell fast, yes. That's another topic. But thanks.

Cycle life tests of High Energy density cylindrical cells

Thanks! Then there is also this Samsung INR21700-48X 4650mAh rated at 3000 cycles @ 70% capacity. Did you test it by any chance? I wonder how it would compare with the other 1000 cycle @ 80% capacity rated cells at 1000, 2000 and 3000 cycles. After how many cycles do the 1000 cycles rated cells...

Cycle life tests of High Energy density cylindrical cells

Hi, great thread. Which cells would you recommend for my 12S6P pack? I am looking for maximum 1000 or at least 500+ cycles capacity with good price–performance ratio. Max 0.5C, mostly 0.2C discharge current for my application. Samsung INR21700-50E 4900mAh 9.8A Reclaimed €3.10 Samsung...

BBS-FW: Open Source Firmware for BBSHD/BBS02 Controller

This is great :thumb: One stock feature I really like is configurable "Keep Current" (%). This way you need to change PAS levels less often (hill / lower cadence = more power without pressing any buttons). So convenient that I don't even feel a need for a torque sensor. Is something like...

Bafang BBSHD BBS02 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware

Very nice, great work. I wonder how many hardware revisions of BBS02 exist / how hard would it be to support it.
