Polaris 6x6 diesel(!) conversion build log

I'm curious what you need a 6x6 for, and if you are pulling anything with it I would suggest getting some weight forward. I used one for a bit on a fireline and we had to put about 150 lbs of gear on the front rack so it could turn when pulling a small pumper trailer. It could sure pull in a...

40mph commuter: slack hardtail on 29" tire or steep full-suspension on 26"?

I can say with confidence that a hardtail with 4" wide tires and front suspension going 30 mph is fine on broken pavement and gravel, but I wouldn't want to go any skinnier at my speed, or much faster with my setup (on rough roads). I definitely wouldn't want to use skinnier tires going faster...

    swapping cassettes

Ah so you aren't trying to fix an issue, it's just an opportunity to make it "more better". A 11-34 will swap right in to replace your old cassette. You might have to adjust the B screw on the derailleur but it won't be much. If you go bigger both front and back it might help with reducing...

    swapping cassettes

A- Do you use your 12 tooth cog much? B- Would you/do you ride at slowish speeds where the bike feels over-geared? If you answered A, you are using 9th gear regularly, then I would suggest a bigger chainring. For the reasons brought up by others. You mention cruising in 6th so I don't think...

Hunting mid-drive build - frame choices

I bought a used Biktrix Juggernaut and have been using it both for commuting (10km each way, gravel/pavement mix) and exploring forest trails. It's not the greatest ebike but it does what it does quite well for the $1400 CAD I spent on it. It's an old model with the exposed BBS02 rather than...

    BBSHD CHAINRING WOBBLE

Well that's disappointing. It looks to me like both the BBSHD and the ring are a bit out of true. I'd try giving the ring a 1/5 turn and try it again repeating until you have minimal wobble, having each part cancel out each others wobble.

Need a custom extreme heavy duty rim built for my Juiced ODK U500

You are getting a lot of good info from Balmorhea, all of his points have been bang on. It really bugs me when the "pros" doll out bad advice like suggesting 4x lacing on a 20" wheel with large flanges or reducing tension for spoke breakage. The major issue I see with your wheel is the bend...
