    FS: Headways 38120 4S2P pack

Any interest in a 4S2P Headway pack? Been siting in my lab for a few years now doing nothing. So hopefully will be useful for somebody else. Can be easily rearranged to a different configuration. Make offers! Spec: Checked voltages and all are 3.3V. Don't have time to cycle them to see what...

Sinclair C5 teardown on EEVBLOG ;)

Dave Jones over on EEVBLOG just did a test drive/teardown video on Sinclair C5- a funky bike with assist from the mid eighties. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xS6q27VOTOk

    1000W Discharger Project

I may be a bit late to chime in here, but Dave Jones over at EEVBLOG had a nice tutorial on making constant current loads: http://www.eevblog.com/2010/08/01/eevblog-102-diy-constant-current-dummy-load-for-power-supply-and-battery-testing/

Basic feature set for a BMS

Hello all, I am looking into making a low cost basic BMS for myself, and figured I'd ask what others would be interested in seeing, as at this time it's easy to throw in some features Right now thinking of: per cell UV/OV detection per cell passive balancing on charge Open drain /opto or...

(Was) Honda Civic Hybrid goes 100,000 miles with no problems

A few people over on greenhybird/cleanmpg forums did exactly that - helps minimize the load on the main battery that has to charge the little one

    Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

Mine is still running original niCads it came with, but I do tend to let the pack run down completely in a few uses, and then charge it back up.

    Lawnmowing: manual and electric powered

It took a few years, but I finally got around to documenting my own mower project. It started as a bunch of separate posts here, and now has a home on my own blog: http://kuzyatech.com/upgrading-an-electric-lawn-mower-to-lithium-batteries

(Was) Honda Civic Hybrid goes 100,000 miles with no problems

I am late as usually ;) The HCHII has two 6-cell sticks welded together in a U -shape. yeah, the fit would have to be identical to the OEM to fit- that's why my contact is looking for samples. I guess it's back to fishing on ebay..

(Was) Honda Civic Hybrid goes 100,000 miles with no problems

I've been talking to a reputable battery company about tooling for those sticks. They can easily supply fresh Panasonic or any other cells cells, welded in whatever configuration we need them. Step #1 though is getting some samples to them so they can tell me what the NRE would be. Problem is-...

    Cell Level LVC Prototype: 30V - 150V @ 80A (pics)

There is a theory that soldering crimped join actually reduces its mechanical strength by making it too rigid and inflexible, I should check what the IPC standards book says on that, now that I think about it

(Was) Honda Civic Hybrid goes 100,000 miles with no problems

My 07 HCHII has around 68k miles, and while it's not yet throwing any codes, I get the recalibrations daily, and mileage frankly sucks. Fought with the dealers/Honda for a bit trying to get the pack replaced under warranty, they claim all is well. I did manage to get them to print a screenshot...

Breaking down a Hybrid battery for use on my bike?

Crash Machine , do you have any parts for the second gen Civic Hybrid (2006-2011)? I might be interested in the battery control module to see what makes it tick and play with interfaces.

Breaking down a Hybrid battery for use on my bike?

I second the idea of selling them off. Plenty of people are starting to rebuild their Civic Hybrids, so there is a pretty good market for used sticks. If you cycle them and have their capacities known, that's even better. Sell them, and get "proper" ones for the purpose. (Disclaimer- I own...

    Idiot-proofing a 24V lithium pack.

On my Yardworks (Canadian version of Homelite methinks-got it used on ebay) the charger was in the unit and an external supply was just a regular supply. After I've converted to LiFePO4, I am running 8S1P of Headways and it typically is sufficient for my 1/4 acre yard. Originally the unit had...

    Should I make a Seiko-based BMS?

Hi Fechter, the way things are going so far, I don't see myself competing with you any time soon. I "scratched my itch" so to say and have a working thing I needed, but then it kinda slowed down, and moved to the "next shiny thing" projects ;) If anything, a cooperative development would be a...

    Should I make a Seiko-based BMS?

As some of you know, I've been testing my S-8209 based BMS for quite a while now in my mower and so far it's been doing well, running its 24V DC motor. (See http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=18803&p=274105&hilit=seiko#p274107 for details) So now I am thinking of spinning it...

Honda Civic Hybrid II battery pack communications

Thanks for the link! Do you know how much of that is true for the 2006+ Civics? The architecture of the system might be rather different As far as CAN-I was hoping somebody already figured a way to query the pack over ODBII link using ScanGauge.;)

Quad Cell Distributed Digital BMS design discussion

Guys, there is a lot of appnotes by Texas Instruments describing their Impedance Track algorithms. Those do indeed figure out both state of health and state of charge of a pack based on the voltage changes between various states (relaxed, charging, discharging etc). A somewhat simpler approach...
