Needs more amps.. the stock mini controller is only allowing 15 amps max..

I hooked up my DD controller and it made all the difference.
Why the heck would Dan use that little thing? Cute as it may be.
I was ready to put the direct drive back on.

With my rear geared kit I have a Turnigy 130A Watt Meter and it shows that I only use/get around 13.5 amps while riding and up to 750 watts. I was wondering if I could use a 20 amp controller and see improvement? Aside from going from SLA's to Lifepo4 batteries that's all I have done. It runs on the flat around 25 to 27 mph. A bit more power would be nice.

It worked for me.
Still trying to get the pin-out schematic on my new throttle tho.
Had to use an old one.

These little geared motors are designed to be 250w motors, pushing them harder is possible but the more you push the more you have to be carefull not to destroy them ( first thing to go are the nylon gears .. ) 36v 20~25 amps is still reasonable, but is about the limit before things start to be sensitive. some guys are running 48, 60 and + volts on them but that's way over the limit for these mini's.

Ride your normal route and pull over to check motor temps with your hand once in a while, if it remains cool you are not pushing it.. if it's warm you are ok.. if it's hot need to lighten the load or ease off on the throttle lol..
