Hello All,

Been looking for a bike for my wife to covert to a low power hub motor. I plan to use a Q100C on 48V. The bike i am considering has 30mm deep rims double wall aloy rims but its NOT eyleted. Are eyelets mandatory for a hub motor build? As I said its a low power Q100 hub motor and wife will likely ride around at 15mph max... I would prefer not to have to buy a new rim to keep everything the same.

Here is a link to the bike: https://www.purecycles.com/products/pure-city-bike?variant=36482798282

Low power dont need eyelets.

The Downhill Crystalyte Rim I bought from Justin at ebikes.ca has no eyelets, its a $65cdn rim

Only need eyelets to over torque the oversize spokes. At your power level, and assuming the wife is average weight, no need for eyelet rim. Just get a decent rim, vs one worth ten bucks. Keep the spokes tight, but not overtightened.
