I think where that Kindernay will shine will be with the ability to swap it to different shells. Still, it's pricier than the Rohloff which is saying something! But, Kindernay also means only front hub motors or mid-drive as well. Not such a bad idea on a trike. On a 2-wheel bent though, that leaves front hub motor or mid-drive which again might limit things in regards to weight balance. I think in most instances weight balance is more critical on the 2-wheel bents versus trikes. Where I think drive systems for bikes is are getting really cool are frames being built around Pinion drive. I'd LOVE to build something like a trike or velomobile around a pinion drive and maybe with a rear hub motor or mid-drive. Or, OR, Pinion with a rear hub motor and cassette! Like a MILLION GEARS!
