So far, my theoretical build is:

Carvon single hub motor/trucks/wheels

2x Turnigy 20c 5000mah 6s li-po (in parallel)

Wiiciever + nunchuck

Parallel Charging Board

Would these Bullet Plug Splitters be ok?

Is this ok?

I also have a couple of questions:

The FVT ESC has a built in power switch. Does this suffice as an on/off for the board or no?
Are the default FVT settings ok for the carvon? I read that the default settings were ok for the SK3, but i'm not sure about compatibility with the Carvon motor.
Is there a XT-60s on hobbyking? I can't seem to find an XT-60s, or does only the XT-90s exist?
What AWG wire should I get?
Also, does anyone know of any <$50 boards in a similar form factor to the Loaded Truncated Tesseract?

Thanks a lot!

Hey flim,

I´ll give this my best shot.....

I´m not sure about these ESC, maybe someone else can chip in. I do recommend torqueboards 12s or VESC as a wise first investment. the VESC esspecially will give you smooth starts and acceleration from a stop. Using either of these would also make your future upgrades cheaper and easier.

Again, I don´t have any experience with these.

Hobbyking does have XT 60´s keep looking

12 AWG should be fine 10 AWG also

V2 Brick or Roxie

Cheers and good luck

Hey 206monkey32,
I appreciate the fast response!
Those decks look awesome!

Also, I wanted to clarify, by XT-60S, I meant the anti-spark version. Do only anti spark xt connectors come in xt-90?

The FVT 120A is a great starter ESC. It's low budget and can get the job done. Although I would only recommend it to 175 lb or less riders and flat-ish terrain. Some of my riders started with it, and have now moved on to VESC. I'd recommend putting a 70A fuse/breaker between the battery and FVT. I do agree with 206 that if you ride your board a lot, you will want to replace the FVT with something that can handle more than 6s.

If you use two 6s 4500mah, you can carry those packs onboard a plane because each pack is 99.9Wh. FAA allows 100Wh or less and needs to be carry-ons. You need to remove them from the enclosure though and tape the connectors.

It looks like you are trying to come up with a method of not removing your lipos for charging. If you route the wires coming out of your pack to the exterior side of your enclosure, and also route the ESC power wires right next to it, you can make a removable connection that you can both use as a power switch and an easy access to plug the charger on to. You can also route the balance leads next to it, just make sure you cover them when not charging. In this way, you can remove the extra weight of the parallel board. I usually do not recommend this because there is no way to tell if you have puffed your lipos before charging them, unless your enclosure are see-through.

AFAIK, the anti sparks are only on the xt 90s

I am new to the build process, but my board has almost identical parts. First, the esc has an on/off and it worked for me. However you will definitely want to change the settings on the esc. I recently test-drove my board with the default settings and it suffered from "Voltage sag" and Cogging Torque. These two make the board startup very slowly (And make awful noises) and will make the board accelerate unreliably. These may be fixed by programming your esc.
LEVer just helped me out with this info. Thanks!

I haven't used mine long enough to even drain a set of batteries so I could not tell you. I was just going the simplest route.
