As most of us know it is difficult to monitor the remaining capasity of a lifepo4 cell when it is being discharged (at a normal rate) until it is getting close to the knee. But a while back I removed the battery from my cell phone and was suprized to find it was a lifepo4 cell. I was surprized because like all cell phones it has one of those little battery icons on it that shows bars to represent the remaining charge. So I'm wondering if when the icon shows the battery is down say 2 bars out of 4 is it actually in the knee?

Pop the battery out when it's at 2 bars or whatever, and then see what the voltage is with a meter.

I had a phone that went through it's batteries fast once. I found it was charging to 5v. Suprised it never caught fire.
