Also found these which are interesting. They are 0-5k potentiometer throttles off of the old EV Warrior bikes. Unique in that they appear to be left handed and also include an on/off switch. They state that there is no mounting hardware but, from the pictures, it looks like all that is missing is bolts. Also these look like they are cast aluminum bodies so are likely pretty tough. Anybody have experience with these. They are here:

I have no experience with these.
Are they a direct replacement for hall sensor throttles or do they require some modifications?
I think I read that they are water resistant and less prone to fail if it rains. Is this true?

I don't know about the EV Warrior one but I am currently using the magura and have found It WAY better than the hall throttles I have used. It does take an easy modification though. Check here:

I want a potentiometer thumb throttle for my wife's bike because she currently has a hall half twist that has a very narrow range gradient and she thinks she would prefer a thumb throttle. I think I will want it on the right side however so I will likely use one of the AWI 0-5k ones from here:

i also have purchased my AWI from this shop. I was very happy with the seller and shipping to my country also was cheap.
For a variable brake lever for the left thumb i have built out a pot from one of these throttles, because i could not find one in my local electronic store with an optimal working anlge. The working angle of the pot in the AWI is about 60° which is perfect. the throttle is very precise but a bit hard to push (my thumb got tired during longer rides). Once i took the throttle apart i found out the spring can be "adjusted" by put it in another whole on the lever. now it feels more comfortable :)

the pot in this throttle looks like same size as in my AWI. Maybe this is a good choice too. the switch also is nice (for 3-speed, ignition or kill switch use)
