My daily commute is about 40km and 1400m elevation. I have a street bike with an Shimano e6000 with 2 original Batteries. I am a heavy guy with 95kg, bike weights about 30kg with loaded Sidebags.

Now I want to build a single track push type trailer with a powerful Hubmotor. I estimate the weight for the Trailer about 25kg including the motor. The trailer total maximum weight will be 90kg max with low center of gravity.

Automatic retracting side support wheels for lower speeds will be Handy I think.

What motors would you recommend for this scenario? I would like to go 40kmh max.

Pretty much any direct drive hub motor will work fine so long as it has enough copper mass to not overheat. I don't like power ratings on motors but anything labeled as "1500W" or greater should be fine. Dimensionally; the stator would be at least 205mm diameter and the magnets might be at least 25mm wide. Your target speed will depend on wheel size, system voltage and rpm/volt of the motor. I highly recommend playing with the simulator to give you an idea:

Here is an example motor that would be be fine for the job:

I would not use a single wheeled pusher trailer for that kind of weight; it will push the bike around disagreeably, and most likely shimmy at moderate speed.

Single wheel trailers have a lot of tongue weight, so whatever total load they carry is large in proportion to the traction available at the wheel. You won't be able to use the available power of a big hub due to inadequate axle weight. Adding more weight will improve traction but worsen shimmy.

If you can possibly do the job with a two wheeled trailer, you'll eliminate shimmy and you'll be able to move almost all the weight over the drive wheels. But if you persist with a single wheeled trailer, it will behave a whole lot better if the hub motor is in the bike rather than the trailer.

1400m elevation gain over the ride ( long hill ), or is your ride relatively flat and you happen to be at 1400m elevation?
