Hi all.

Long time reader here, but haven't posted much. Due to botched back surgery I cant walk long distances, so I bought me a electric scooter to get around a bit. I purchased it from a place on ebay from Addmotor, but it is also named Swift and is made in China under other names.

800 Watts, 48v 20ah Lithium, has hub motor with pedal chain. The other day I drove from my Office/Shop one street over, just as I got to the house the motor making a growling sound, and twisting the throttle would not accelerate. I parked it on stand to check out, found out that if I spin the rear tire it will spin up, but wont start on its own. It no longer growls when trying to start, but will free run after spinning tire. Have not tried pedaling to see if it will run.

The Scooter is only one month old, and still under warranty. My point of posting is to get your opinion of whether its the motor or controller. Not sure if the hub motor has hall sensors. Going to contact seller to get whatever part they think the problem is.

Thanks for any reply.

Check the connectors, unplug each one, make sure everything looks ok, replug. If that doesn't solve the issue, check for connector continuity. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=multimeter+continuity+test

From there http://www.ebikes.ca/learn/troubleshooting.html this page is likely going to give you something to work with.
