Good find!

I wonder if anyone is interested in a group buy?

How would that work in the uk? Are the charging station free? Isn't it better to just pop to a starbuck and charge there?

you pay a set admin fee (I think it's £10/year) then all charging stations are free

(well almost all)

Its not £10 a year lol, its about £12-30 a month !, I looked into it and its not cheap at all.

Plus charging stations are run by different companies, so having a card for one doesn't mean you can charge in another, you can only use station that your company your subscribed too operates. If not sure how it works abroad, but that's how it works in the UK, another problem with the UK ones is a lot of the charging stations are on provite property such as car dealerships and business carparks, the only ones you can use are the ones in carparks and motorway services.

Here in Wiltshire, there are a number of publicly funded charge points that I'm almost certain are totally free to use, but the situation does seem to vary from county to county. Best thing to do is survey your area here: www.openchargemap.org

Christ! What scheme is that? Luckily, that pricing structure doesn't seem to be the norm. Most schemes I know of are either free, or require a nominal annual fee of around £10-£20.

Someone mentioned there are two pins to measure resistance. Anyone get any further with this?

Does the ready made cable access 230v 16amp without need further modification?

I find it’s more troublesome to find a charge point in a big city that in a village. As I plan on a 300km ride this maybe a back-up if the city shops and cafes be too busy. And many theses days don’t have sockets out front to stop people charging mobile phones.

The ready made ones already have it. You can buy them from about 100-110 quid. Not worth to build your own type 2 to 230v ac adapters.

I can get a plug for 38 quid. 16amp euro socket and cable for not much more. Fifty quid saving is a lot.

Anyone has an answer much appreciation.

You also need a way of shutting off the control signal for times when the charging point refuses to release your adapter. A keyswitch is probably best. A momentary button will also suffice if you don't need the adapter to remain secure when plugged in.

TBH, I'd just buy this ready made one instead:

EDIT: I've just seen the updated price for the adapter linked to. Last time I looked it was around £90, now it's £140. Bummer! Does anybody know of a cheaper prefabricated alternative?

These guys were the cheapest last time I looked.

I like the idea of the 3 pronged C13 power supply connection. It just plugs right into your charger! A lot of weight and space saved.
