Specialized Rockhopper Pro Cyclone Build

Luckily i wasn't paying for machine time !!

It was my first build so maybe it is geared a bit low but everyone seems to have overheating problems with this motor at higher
power levels. I felt that if it was geared lower that i would sacrafice top speed for hill climbing ability, which is the whole reason I went
mid drive. It will do 50 Kph as is and at this stage I'm ok with that.

There is a 219 kart chain with a 14:76 ratio to the cranks and yes it was inspired by Boostjuice, there is a free wheel at the crank and support
bearing. There is another free wheel at the motor to allow non powered pedling with out the resistance of the motor.

I may play around with the ratios at some stage but I'll put a few Ks on it as is first.

Ok its been ages since I've posted or riden my bike.
My knees seem to be pretty much shot and the slightly wider cranks seem to aggravate them badly. Doh.
I spent a heap of hours on this project with the idea of commuting on some fun trails most days of the week.
I am working on strengthening the muscles around the knee and I'm still hopeful of riding.

On a more positive and relevant note I have finished my heatsink! Managed a small amount of testing and seems to work really well.

The bike is basically finished now just some wiring tidy ups to be done.

I do have a slipping issue under heavy load which i thought was the cassette or derailleur but am now leaning towards rear hub.
Any ideas?

Solved! The gear slipping problems seem to have just been a bent derailleur hanger! Always the simple solution, only after I stripped down the freehub and found nothing wrong. I ended up changing the chain and cluster to a slightly fresher one so can't really be sure it was just the hanger but it was definitely bent.
I took the bike out for a few test hills around the block and worked absolutely awesome, then some weekend cyclists went by on their flash road bikes and I couldn't help myself. Gave them a good head start and then blew by them on the steepest part of the climb like they were standing still :) very happy, so my quick around the block test turned into a 15km ride.

Awesome build!
