I feel for this guy (sad).

I noticed this when I had my wife’s spare keys for the day. There is a AirTag, registered to her, on those keys. While I was out and about, at work, I was getting notifications that I had someone else’s AirTag in my possession. The notification also stated that the registered owner can see my location. Sure enough, I went to the FindMy app and I can see where I’ve been all day.

This tells me that if someone stole my bike with a tag registered to me, they would be notified and immediately look for the device to extract it. At least, that’s what I would if I were a thief.

Also, as the registered owner, my wife could not see the location activity. Just the current activity.

If we all put trackers on our bikes this would prevent theft. People would be less likely to steal something if they know they can be traced. At least an apple AirTag, that’s the route I went.

Apple AirTag looks very interesting battery life 1year (nice). I have an HUAWEI Android phone I don’t think it will work on my phone?

It’s not good if a thief knows there is a tracker fitted because they will find it and remove it (that’s my opinion).

I was looking at a GPS so the bike can be tracked at where the bike is at it then using Apple AirTag or similar to pin point its location when at the street.

Here is the GPS I’m looking at: TK905 GPS Tracker Real Time GPS

Thanks for the info… very valuable.
I think the Apple AirTag will be off my list and look for something else but with long battery life.

Yeah unfortunately it just works for iPhones. With my AirTag have it hidden, there’s no way a thief could find it. It’s in a very odd location

The AirTag isn’t quite as good as a GPS tracker but it will notify me if the bike is moved and I can see the location. Also it’s only 30 bucks.

I wish some company would make a more affordable option for a GPS tracker. I’m sure it will come with time.

I’ve had this AirTag well over a year and the battery is still around 90%-ish. As long as you’re not constantly locating it, making it beep it should last a lot longer than one year. Also you can put it in a location where it’s not easily found but also accessible so you can change the battery when it’s time.

But yeah a GPS is definitely more accurate, but you’re not gonna get that for 30 bucks
