Thoughts? Ebike ticketed/conviction upheld (Canada)

Discreet.

I am aware that if I am pulled over, I am up for about $1000 in fines, and the loss of 75% of my motorcyclist license for riding an unregistered motorcycle.
Plus losing the bike 8-(

What's this?
> the "Idaho stop" (when not in Idaho).

1. Very few offenses that can get your motor vehicle impounded in Australia. One of them is a police pursuit. Almost be worth it for the comedy. I have the Benny Hill music playing in my head...

2. Bikes slowing down and giving way at stop signs/lights, but not stopping. Called that as it was tge first (and still virtually the only) place it is legal.

That is not helpful, ELI5

Idaho law says that bikes can treat red lights as stop signs (stop, then proceed when clear) and stop signs as yield signs (no requirement to stop if there is no cross traffic). A few other localities in the country have adopted some version of this practice.

There's a fundraiser for the appeal now:

It's a shame it costs that much to fight the system :| .

I am riding one right now. I am experiencing delays in building my new project, so I purchased a scooter to ride in the meantime. A Ruckus style Chinese ‘’ebike’’. It is definitely illegal, doing about 40 mph top speed. Police don’t bother, as long as I am stopping on red lights and wear a helmet.

I am more MX style than scooter, thus have found it lacking power, reactivity and suspension travel. Yet it does have some good sides: I park it with motorcycles on the street and leave it there overnight, on its own integrated alarm and steering lock. I can take a passenger. Those tires are very tough, tubeless, curbs and stairs proof at any speed.

Could you link to the relevant components?

Or the complete bike if that's how you ordered it?

I didn’t order, only shopped the ebike/scooter dealers around and found this one was the best deal. It is from TAO motor. http://www.taomotor.ca/taurus-804.html

Got it with Li battery and fully assembled, but everything was loose and required a complete check-up/tuning. It is only 4k miles now, so I can’t speak for the long term, but so far so good. I used it mostly to commute to the marina, and shore/pier fishing trips. It’s been soaking wet pretty often and never failed. The season is almost over. I won’t ride this in the snow.
