VW 'Volkswagen Uses Software to increase Pollution'

My Volt has 16k miles on it and if you don't count the long trips of over 200 miles, I'd still be on my original tank of gas.

That leads me to the question: Do plug hybrids need fuel stabilizer? It seems like it would be feasible to drive one on battery power alone until the gasoline went bad.

They come with a fuel management system that keeps track of how old your gas is and will automatically switch to gas to use up the old fuel. (It hasn't happened to me yet.) It also will run the ICE for a very short period every once in awhile to verify that everything works as it should.

Good for you Luke. I went solar about 3 years ago. Loving every minute of it. My Volt has 16k miles on it and if you don't count the long trips of over 200 miles, I'd still be on my original tank of gas.

Right on Nick!

Thanks again for driving me to races back in the day!

It was fun watching you and Todd (Thud) sticking one of -method's motors in the pink death bike and melting it down on the track. I think it had a Kelly controller and a Zero battery pack. Talk about, "unsafe at any speed".

Emissions ‘fix’ ruined our cars, say VW drivers

(A group of 16 Volks owners:)
...citing a range of issues including increased fuel consumption, emissions warnings on the dashboard and reduction in power. Some of the group have also said that they had been offered a lower trade-in value from dealers since getting their cars updated.

"... Others have reported a fall in trade-in value of up to €1,500..."

So sad. All this back-and-forth when a simple fix would have fixed the situation permanently. (Re-route engine exhaust into passenger compartment.)

Recently read an article telling about Germans officials storm the VW headquartes

I have to wonder; If Volkswagen had sold the cars honestly and said "These diesel cars make more power and get better mileage, but they don't meet EPA emissions tests", would consumers be attracted or repelled by such a feature?

Whilst that is a purely hyperthetical question, sinf they would not have been allowed to sell a vehicle without EPA compliance.......in reality buyers were attracted by the power and economy of the Diesel motors and i doubt if many of them had EPA compliance high on their check list before signing the cheque !
Of course , all owners will now claim the high ground of EPA support to protect their situation and support their claim against VW.

As I posted this youtube bit in my last post on this thread, I secretly knew that what this guy believed was baloney.
https://youtu.be/m0Lt0pnSdKc?t=5m16s

This seemed to be basic common knowledge that diesels emit far less CO2 so everyone has to buy one. But after decades of time this has been blasted away with hard science that its complete baloney.
https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=307&t=11
About 19.64 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) are produced from burning a gallon of gasoline that does not contain ethanol. About 22.38 pounds of CO2 are produced from burning a gallon of diesel fuel.

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-33254803
In fact, not only are CO2 emissions almost identical on average, but they also produce large quantities of noxious pollutants linked with thousands of premature deaths.

I wonder if theres something around the corner that could be the next horrid truth to come out? Maybe it could be that CO2 could be the only chance we have to feed the worlds growing population and that it doesn't heat up the world at all and its something else thats warming up the world, because to me it seems with these about-faces in what should be solid ground science that these genius scientists we all listen to don't know their arse from their earhole.

When looking at China funded global warming science from their universities all they seem to be finding is how much better their crops are going to grow. It seems pretty clear to me that this is the only global warming science Chinese leaders would be reading and accepting when you consider their attitude the makeup being tested on animals etc.
Climatic Warming Increases Winter Wheat Yield

Thus I think it explains why China deliberately fund the new building of the dirtiest coal power plants possible in 3rd world countries. So they can feed their people?

Emissions woes spread to Daimler
May 24, 2017 4:31 AM ET|About: Daimler AG ADR (DDAIY)|By: Yoel Minkoff, SA News Editor

German police have raided a number of Daimler's (OTCPK:DDAIY) offices as part of a probe into possible diseasalgate fraud, as the automaker confirmed that "well known and unknown employees" were under investigation.

Yesterday, the DOJ filed an emissions lawsuit against Fiat and said it could face a fine of more than $45,000 on over 100,000 vehicles it sold before 2015.

Remember the days when everyone was parroting those words about how much more environmentally friendly diesel vehicles were? I wonder what the big companies plan for you to think and believe next..
