So my old Kelly controller blew up, It was a KLS 14401-8080I

I went onto kelly's website and bought another, and this turned up:

It has exactly the same part number, but is clearly different, including having a 200AMP fuse compare to 300 amp on the old one (interesting considering it has a 30 second 400amp rating).

I believe one is 8080I and the other is 8080H.

KLS8080I/IPS is designed with opto-isolated technology. We specify 8-30V for power supply which must be isolated from main battery pack B+/B-. You may use an isolated DCDC converter or a separate 12V battery for power supply.

The 8080H Battery pack shares the same ground as the 12V input unlike the 8080I which has the 12V- Seperated

Good shout there! I already have isolated supplies in the circuit design, so that's not an issue.

It's interesting as it's a third of the size (and weight!) of the other controller. The fuse rating worries me as well.

It would also mean modifying my wiring, which I'd rather not do.

Doesn't explain the same model numbers on them, unless the stickers are misprints.

You could try asking Fany from Kelly support.
This is the first time I'll try a 8080H Controller KLS96501-8080H to be exact.
I just put my order in.

That's quite impressive that they got it down to a third of the size.
It looks like I bought the older version from QS, maybe I should have gone with this Controller.
