    Freewheel Crank Set

About the same time this thread was started, give or take. Greenspeed trike, cyclone 650w mid drive and a ping 24v20a. I posted this link viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3921 into another thread around the same time, but the link does not seem to work for me.

Hehe, yeah 8) . I was hunting for my build thread but it seems to have disappeared :/

Did you ever have a play with the bare motor, Miles ?

Typical 'Duct Tape' performance ? / Need more power

Dredging up a really REALLY old thread. Haven't been near ES in a couple of years and it is amazing to see how far things have come. I ended up getting a 12V20A block from Ping and have spliced it together with the original 24v20a. I had another look at splitting the pack apart to find the...

Best Hub Gear for Cyclone Tandem

Not sure about the hub dimensions, but if you have the $$$, a Rohloff is damn near indestructable. I currently run a SRAM dual drive and have found the internals to be quite delicate.

Typical 'Duct Tape' performance ? / Need more power

Time to resurect an old thread. After many delays (Not Ping's fault) I finally have 4 new cells to swap out the slightly dodgy set. Two thumbs up to Ping for taking the effort to diagnose the problem over email and to send replacement cells at no cost to me. :) Since we were stuffing around...

    Cylone Controller Wiring

3 wires, heavy current , disappear into the motor windings of a BLDC motor. They would be the individual phase windings. You should also have two heavy gauge wires and a 5 (?) pin connector that leave the motor casing. Battery and throttle connections.

Correct. It is in the fine print

Let your Ping charger breathe! I melted mine

Erm... Ping ?! :) Does the charger still put out voltage ? And does the cooling fan spin ? I have a problem with mine in that the fan does not spin until I give it a nudge. When I found the problem the first time the charger had been running for half an hour or so and was already very hot. I...

    Cyclone 650 watt review.

Hehe, no worries. Don't forget to add an update in a few weeks once your build has settled down and you have a better feel for it. There is very little long term data available at the moment. Oh, I didn't catch whether you are using the single or double freewheel. If it is the double...

    HELP Cyclone accelerator

If you have no joy repairing the current throttle you can always fit a standard 3? wire throttle if a replacement Cyclone part is stupidly expensive. You will need to splice the 3 wire throttle onto the Cyclone connector but apart from that, simple. Only down side is you loose the battery...

    master plug

Mil type connectors are fantastic to work with and can be made with custom pin configurations. I usually just go browsing at work and grab whatever is close enough to do the job :) . Low connection forces, weatherproof and self locking ( depending on the series of connector ) I have not had a...

    18 Mosfet Infineon Controller

Len, follow your nose herefor pricing. DD, please don't take my AWG comment as being excessivley critical, I don't pay for the wiring on my setup so I have always leaned toward oversized wiring :) Just a thought though, if you would change out the feeders for 8 AWG @ 65a, maybe it would be...

Way too much time on my hands......

mmmmm, carbon :D On my Greenspeed I found the only truly safe option was to fit cleats. With a BB height of around 18" , dropping a foot off the pedals at speed is a recepie for extreme pain. I use Look mountainbike cleats. They look out of place on a road trike but at least I can walk in MTB...

    Cyclone 650 watt review.

Are you sure it is 9 single core wires ? There may have been a change in controller model, but mine has the two wire battery leads plus three motor phase power leads. The multi pin to the motor is the hall sensor wiring which you can figure out easily by reading the silk screening on the PCB...

    18 Mosfet Infineon Controller

It may just be my eyes, but the high current wiring on the 72v65 looks a bit anaemic. What gauge is it ?

Cycle Analist Direct Plug-in Model - what does it fit?

It isn't essential, but knowing how much you draw from the cells vs how much is required to achieve full charge gives you some useful indicators on the health of your pack. And it helps you plot trends as your pack starts to wear out.

Cycle Analist Direct Plug-in Model - what does it fit?

Less procrastination and more ebiking :D Regardless of which CA version you end up with you will still need to do some form of hacking to make use of the limmiter. I thing the stand alone is the way to go, that way you can change controllers easily and / or use the CA to monitor charging...

Cycle Analist Direct Plug-in Model - what does it fit?

Where did you get the controller from ? I believe the modified Crystalite controllers were specific to ebikes.ca ? Have a look at the wiring info at ebikes.ca and see if the internal wiring matches up.

CUT OUT ON POWER cyclone 650watt lifepo 36v 20ah new

Rob, keep in mind the BMS over current circuit is there to protect the cells from being discharged above their designed C rating which equals reduced cell life. There are several people on the forum who are either increasing the overcurrent limmit or just bypassing the protection all...

    48V 20Ah lifepo4 lasts only 34 km on 5th cycle

I hope you have plenty of patience. No-load amperage is usually only a couple of amps... You could be going for at least 8 to 10 .. hours .. :)

CUT OUT ON POWER cyclone 650watt lifepo 36v 20ah new

Rob, A123's are without a doubt the current bee's knee's of LiFePO's. But they are pretty expensive on a $ per watt basis. An alternative would be to parallel a second battery with your current one. This would split the load roughly between the two and keep the C rate on each pack down to a...

500w Cyclone Kit drains heaps of power! NO BMS!

Lithium chemistry is perfect for the Cyclone. But the pack must be sized to suit the motor it will be driving. You wouldn't use a volkswagen to tow a semi trailer. Same concept with batteries.

    Reccomendations about 650W Cyclone

Yes, it has been covered in various threads. Reliability; Motor and gearbox is good, if you run the dual freewheel then make sure you remove and loctite the screw that holds the freewheel assembly to the motor The front freewheel is junk, expect to be replacing it sooner rather than later...
