    Panasonic XU1 Mods

I don't think Panasonic sell this yet in America or Europe or other English speaking countries so it might be hard to find other users/ mods unless there are Japanese ebike forums somewhere. Looks like it's going to be sold as the GXO according to press releases. I hope they do release it...

    Balance charging 2 x 7s Lipo

Most people I've seen with hobby chargers use cheap mean well clones with screw down terminals. But you could put whatever connectors you like on. If you get a psu that is closer to the output voltage the charger will have to do less work and might be less noisy.

    Micro-house ebike build

I would choose xps or phenolic foam over expanded polystyrene as they are better insulation. xps is waterproof. Both are available is single sheets from a builders merchants, often with reflective mirroring on both sides. someone probably sells a flexible sheet for the the curve. You might...

    Charging voltage cutoff device

Because you are reducing the voltage you might find it easier to just modify your charger, there's quite a few threads here on that topic , try searching 'adjustable charger mod' 'or 'variable voltage charger' there's also good vids on youtube. Also have a search for your model of charger...

What should these BMS settings be?

I'll have a go at answering your questions but bare in mind I'm just building my first lithium pack with a bms with similar settings so I'm just learning as I go along also. Critical responses welcome. >Over Voltage: 4.0v I recommend leaving this setting at stock. If you're vehicle has...

Are there any decent cheap chargers (13s Lithium ion)?

meanwell led driver., Highest quality electronic product in the house, no fan and waterproof which is also nice. Variable current and voltage within a certain range which is different for each model. If want to buy then search through the specs sheets to find the model that fits your needs...

Common sense things to do to get ready for Coronavirus

Three things I'm doing if I get ill. 1. Vitamin d3 supplimentation effective against acute respiratory infections in general. Note vitamin d spray is more quickly absorbed than tablet if overweight. https://www.bmj.com/content/356/bmj.i6583 2. Zinc supplimentation possibly effective against...

BMS for a 20s NiMH 9000mAh pack, GP 900 DHC cells.

Your controller should prevent overdischarge of the string by cutting out at 20 volts or around that. This doesn't protect individual cells but if you have a bad cell you can replace it. This isn't such a serious situation as with lithium, if you overdischarge a lithium cell it becomes a fire...

BMS for a 20s NiMH 9000mAh pack, GP 900 DHC cells.

NIMH batteries don't need the kind of battery management systems that lithium batteries use. NIMH are designed to be overcharged which allows a series string to be balanced on charge. Typically a charger will connect to a thermistor (or a few thermistors) inside the pack which will help...

    PANASONIC ebike battery change

Not all Panasonic drive ebikes go into emergency mode. You can test to see if yours will by covering up the data pins with tape and trying to cycle on a fully charged battery. http://www.flecc.uk/p/li_battery.html to see which pins

    Lead acid anyone?

Sealed lead acid batteries are great for mobility / disability scooters. That's because the extra weight is an advantage. By putting the heavy SLA batteries low in the scooter it lowers the centre of gravity and stops the scooter falling over and injuring the rider. Range isn't an issue...

    Li-ion battery charger suggestion

There seems to be an infinite number of meanwell led driver psu models, all with different specs. Here's a thread on 2 types that have a variable output range that could charge both 36 and 48v batteries. https://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=92316 I have an HLG 150 watt...

    84V 3A Charger for Li-ion Battery?

you should be able to find an meanwell power supply for most voltages. Here's one but at around 1.7 amps is a bit less than you wanted. There's probably more but you have to search...

    Battery Fire.

I think Tesla cells are more dangerous than other 18650 cells because they don't have ptc or thermal cutout, this doesn't matter when they are in a module with fuses, bms and cooling system, but when removed they are at least as dangerous as lipo and should be handled with due respect...

First Vruzend build.. voltage just short of 42v

If you put the string back together with a lower voltage cell it will become back into balance with the rest, reducing the higher voltage cells. I'm not sure how long it would take.

First Vruzend build.. voltage just short of 42v

From your latest results it seems that one cell in string 5 has a very bad connection or is disconnected from the rest of the pack. Thus all the rest of the cells in the string got more charge and therefore are a bit higher. It could also be a bad cell. I still suspect the bms killed the...

First Vruzend build.. voltage just short of 42v

Possible sequence of events that caused this. Poor connection in string one and two caused the bms to see higher voltage on string one and two and start burning off the excess charge. bms then trips the pack before the voltage on these strings goes too high causing the whole charge to...

Chain tensioner with Shimano Nexus 3 and BBSHD

I have a Sturmey-Archer tensioner that came with my Alfine 8. They do a series here with similar prices to the Shimano, so far it just works. http://www.sturmey-archer.com/en/products/chain-tensioners I've just ordered a chunkier 1/8 chain in the hopes that it will last longer than the 3/32...

    Makita Power Tool Cell Amps?

No, just high quality Sony cells. The bms would mark the pack as damaged if a cell got over discharged. If you tried to charge the battery 3 times in a row it would permanently disable the battery via the bms. There was lots of complaints, batteries failing a few days out of warranty. Some...
