America- The Enemy Within
Millions view America as a great utopia, and struggle, risking life and limb to reach her shores. But that risk and view are clouded in conflict. America seems to fight more wars in more countries than any other country on this planet. As great as America is and how great it is to call one's self an American, there is one enemy that threatens our nation like none other...the enemy deep within her soul.
The enemy? ... Ideology. That enemy can be found in the minds and faces, reflected in the mirrors of all American society. More formidable than any adversary encountered outside our borders. For centuries, there have been periods of peace and strife within our borders. Why is that? Sure the words that extol America's greatness are fiercely expounded far and wide, loud, and with conviction. But actions speak louder than words. It would seem that America just can't make up its mind as to what kind of country it wants to be. What ideology America should follow? It's been 244 years, and America is still trying to make it work. Ask yourself, how is that working?
Obviously, America is not 'one country'. It is in-fact two separate countries with two separate ideologies, masquerading as one. The Republicans are radicals...no the Democrats are radicals. What's radical is the ideology war that breaks out every four years. Hearing the cries of election time, the enemy within awakes from its hibernation hungry to feast upon another war of words. Words so hot they light the fires of anarchy, and protests. Pitting friends, neighbors, and families against one another. There is no winner in this war, only losers... the American public as a whole. America's worst enemy comes from all walks of life. This country which was founded on and prides its self on diversity as a melting pot of ethnic and cultural flavors and tastes has turned into a boiling cauldron full of churning hate, anger, racism and home to the self-anointed privileged.
Fueling that hate and anger, and widening the great divide amongst American society are the two major factions that duel daily, and every four years, seek party supremacy. Namely the Republican and Democratic party's. No matter how hard, or loud they each yell out their favors, neither party can be all things to all people. Neither party has all the answers that will meet society's desires or needs. Thus, on goes the eternal fight for each party's dominance and forcing their respective ideologies down the throats of Americans. Regardless of which ideology wins, much of America loses. How is that building a strong, vibrant, society? How does new leadership undoing what was accomplished the previous four years, which results in the country going backward help?. How do you build a society when you tear it down and start over virtually every four years? We've been at it for over 244 years and we are still trying to get it right.
The ideological enemy within us and the two conflicting dictatorial factions stifle harmony within our society. The constant switching of party ideologies perpetuates divisiveness and conflict, keeping bi-polar America caught in a quagmire. It's split ideology approach to creating a society for 330 million people just keeps the American society in a state of constant tumultuous stagnation. If there was only a single-minded 'American Ideology' then we would be better as a nation. Less fighting and more productivity. An American ideology that eliminates party politics and adopts the best that the Republican and Democratic ideologies have to offer. A single ideology built 'by the people, and for the people'. One that represents the values, freedoms, and needs of our society and not special interests, or authoritarian rule. All Americans embracing one America, with one cohesive ideology, to build upon. Electing leaders that will work for the people, building on that American ideology. With that, maybe one day America will indeed be that utopia everyone dreams of.
