Most likely there are cutoffs, since it’s a factory bike with PAS. Plus the replacement brake levers on their site clearly have cutoffs. I would unplug those while troubleshooting, as suggested, since it sounds like it could be the issue.

You bought the same replacement controller? Was the self learning successful?

Can you remove the wheel without removing the axle nuts, by unbolting the dropouts, and disconnecting the derailleur from the hanger?

The BBSHD will go nice and slow up hills. They cruise nicely on the flats, but then need to downshift for steep hills, at which point they become a dot in my rear view mirror. If you have a slow technical climb, the BBSHD would be superior.

Well that certainly reinforces the case for the 96v controller solution in order to save money, weight, and space, as well as being more efficient. 👍

The voltage range would need to cover a fully charged 13S pack, so more than 54.6V. However, a popular upgrade for some of the RAD bikes listed under compatibility, is upgrading to 14S (52V nominal), which charges to 58,8V, and I haven't heard of headlights burning out, so it's probably safe...

I’m guessing that the 250W version is exported to countries with a lower legal speed limit, so the display firmware is locked down. Where did you buy it, and what is the legal speed limit for e-scooters where you live?

What’s the speed when riding? What is the speed of the wheel when it’s off the ground?

Did you buy it from Amazon? Maybe you can still return it?

How much would that cost for a unit that outputs 40A, for example? Or 100A as the OP is proposing?

How do you propose to reduce the voltage from 96v to 72v in an economically feasible manner?
