Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Whatever it's named it will still be a "nice FOC".

    Anyone done business with UUMotor?

Tony has responded requesting photos and offering to make it right sending replacements if needed. If they replace the motor with the wires damaged in shipping I'll be happy. It also is the one that had options for tire choice and was sent with an oversized knobby tire when a smooth street...

    Anyone done business with UUMotor?

It took them until 3 days ago to fill and ship the order, but due to the premium shipping via DHL air I received the order yesterday. Initial impression was not good. Some of the included tires are different from the ones expected/requested. A couple of the tires were poorly installed with...

    Anyone done business with UUMotor?

I've been building motorized buckets, such as this one http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=65345 I got a bit carried away in the pursuit of performance and now I want to take a step back and build a lighter more compact one. It looks like I'll still be able to get decent...

    Anyone done business with UUMotor?

Against my better judgement I went ahead and did a sample order of 4 different motors. The prices are decent but everything else about the website and their approach to sales seems unprofessional and tacky. But they offer a greater variety of motors than I have seen from other vendors and in...

    Anyone done business with UUMotor?

UUMotor has answered my last email confirming the two different versions of the motor use the same magnets and windings but still did not say what if anything is actually different about them.

What can I use for a load to test a power supply?

Many things will run on either AC or DC. Incandescent light bulbs are essentially just resistors. They actually run better on DC as the steady current doesn't stress the filament as much. Compact flourescents typically work too. And many other electronic devices. And many motors too. Many...

    Anyone done business with UUMotor?

A voltage rating could avoid insulation breakdown of the wiring or protect voltage sensitive components such as an internal capacitor in a single phase ac motor. Or it could serve as an rpm limit. But in this case I'd expect such limits to be far higher. For a typical ebike motor limited by...

    Anyone done business with UUMotor?

They have separate pages for motors, controllers and kits, so I'm assuming the motor pages are for motors without a controller. Almost every motor they sell comes in multiple power versions but they only give a single performance chart per motor, not for each version. The motor I enquired...

What can I use for a load to test a power supply?

amperage = voltage / resistance A fixed resistance load will only pull about 1/4 the current at 33 volts as it does at 120. I'd be surprised if the AC switch would fail on that much lower a DC voltage.

Motor quieter at 120% throttle - Why?

How does this controller go beyond 100% throttle? Does it boost the voltage? If so, do you know how efficiently?

    Anyone done business with UUMotor?

I'm interested in some of the BLDC hub motors offered at http://www.uumotor.com/store. Each of their motors is offered in multiple versions listed by increasing voltage and increasing price. I sent them an enquiry asking what was different between two versions of a motor to give them different...

    Badsey Cruiser rebuid/modification

The wheels and tires are go kart parts. The body work they did themselves in fiberglass. Most of the other parts, motor, controller, batteries, etc. are off the shelf and if you can't find an exact replacement it shouldn't be too hard to find a decent substitute. Most of the aluminum and...

    My mobility scooter

Icewrench, the disc brake side is laced single cross and the other side is zero cross. Wasn't planned just happened to be the only way I could lace it up reasonably centered with the spoke lengths I happened to have on hand. The scooter reponds great to body english. Leaning helps keep the...

    My mobility scooter

I'm losing my ability to walk and wanted a scooter I could ride about the house and around town. Here's what I came up with. Going for more welding gas motor, MAC 6T w/ 12 fet Infineon controller bought from cell_man/EM3EV with 16x3" tire battery, Turnigy lipo 16s 30 AH, ~64 volt...

    GEAR MATERIAL

I've got a cute q100 (ananda) geared hub motor and the gears are starting to fail. Searching these forums and the rest of the net it appears that replacement gears aren't available and many people have stripped gears on these motors. I was considering trying to get a replacement set of gears...

CellLog 8S battery monitor and logger - any reviews?

El Steak, The cellog's most negative input pin is internally directly connected to the negative alarm ouput pin. By connecting the negative alarm output to the negative terminal of the battery you will fry something if you ever misalign the balance tap connector when attaching it to the...

Your Creation's Before & After Pics

Bctriker, beautiful looking rig. Have you used it much? I'm curious as to how well it is working out. I had considered doing something similar but have yet to do so. My first concern was that with a trike that can't lean into corners a single wheeled trailer like a Bob would contribute to...

Adrian's 2nd Build - Giant AC Full Suspension

I've think I've got some photos somewhere on a back up hard drive but have unfortunately lost track of where they are. Probably easier to just snap some new ones which would also show the latest changes. Although the bike is rather filthy at the moment... One way or another I should be able...

Adrian's 2nd Build - Giant AC Full Suspension

Adrian, you got a good buy on that frame. I've got a Giant AC1 that I've abused the hell out of and the frame has been bullet proof. I found the stock suspension too plush for the higher speeds and weight of my e-bike and put in much stiffer springs and heavier oil to stop the diving action...

Your Creation's Before & After Pics

deVries, I did take enough pictures for a build thread. But unfortunately I put most of them on a laptop that was stolen soon afterwards. But the process was very low tech, cut up frames with angle grinder and cutoff disc, miter & shape with angle grinder and grinding disc, strip metal bare...

2807 remove motor side cover with puller

My 9c was a PITA to open. I didn't have much luck prying with the typical razor blades, chisels and sharpened screwdrivers that usually work for me. I screwed an old dead freewheel mostly on and then hooked a gear puller over it. I really had to crank the puller before the cover popped. but...
