Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Battery is good. Plugged Phaserunner into PC and got "instantaneous phase over current" fault. EDIT: Solved. Phase wires were rubbing against the cover, eventually shorting, which explains why I had the gradual degradation until dead. (Hopefully an easy fix.) Once I'm back up and running...

Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Hi all, was after some help troubleshooting my Phaserunner + CAv3 on a MAC 8t geared hubmotor with a 14s Panasonic GA Sharkpack. I commuted 30km yesterday with the controller working flawlessly (running from 500w to 1000w to bursts of 2000w). On the way home the controller started to play up; I...

    Grin does it again!

For someone wanting a clean drivetrain, this looks like a great solution. Since it's a direct drive, would it hold up if 2000w were pushed through it?

MAC broken by Local Bike Shop, ned advice

Cheers teklektic! One is ordered and en route. Meanwhile I have examined the hub and all wires look to be in the right place with nothing ripped out (thankfully). So the problem may lie in the axle somewhere. I did a quick continuity check and when I test the edge of hub and the phase wires, 2...

MAC broken by Local Bike Shop, ned advice

Thanks all! I've got good leads on what to start checking so I'll be getting intimate with the Mac hub soon. (I did check with the eBikes.ca guys last week, but they're too busy at the moment.) Very good idea, thanks tekletik. Paul, cheers for the info, I will fire you an email. Ironically...

MAC broken by Local Bike Shop, ned advice

I've clocked up a 1000kms commuting on my Cellman Mac kit, and have been having a blast, but hit disaster a few weeks ago. I broke a spoke, and took it to the local bike shop. While they were fixing this, they added a spacer between the motor and the cassette. When removing the cassette they...

First build help: Know the kit I want, but which bike?

Cheers! The original plan was to do a simple first build on a hardtail & then convert to full suspension later on, as I was worried 60 km/day might be too much on the body... plus I have an old Stinky frame sitting around that I was planning to use. Having said that, the bike's nicely sorted...

First build help: Know the kit I want, but which bike?

Just to follow up: It's been a while in the making, but she's up and running! Ended up with the 2006 Trek 4900 with a 1000W 8T Mac. Build was heavily inspired by Oatnet & Kiwi's fork mounted battery builds. 52V 13.8AH A123 battery is mounted in Pelican case on forks with a 40A controller...

Can't see embedded youtube vids in posts

Hopefully someone has a simple solution for this: anything tagged with |youtube| |/youtube| tags doesn't appear when I'm browsing posts. My workaround is to quote the post which then displays the code, which I can paste them into a youtube address... but it wears thin after a while :) Any...

    MAC Motor - Required Connections?

If it's a Cellman kit; do you have another handlebar mounted piece with a red switch on it? (not the throttle) If so that's the power switch for the controller. Either attach that to the controller, or wire the plug permanently on. You should be good to go.

    Minimum specs for precharge switch?

I'm wanting to put in a momentary button switch to control the precharge circuit and was wondering if there are any minimum specs for the switch? I'm running a 16S 6P A123 pack, so do I need a switch that can handle 52V/15A? Switch ratings all appear to be contiuous, not peak. Thanks!

Looking for 2nd Charger for A123 pack

I've heard my pack referred to as 48v, 52v (on Cellman's site) and now 58v. So I have been a bit fuzzy on what charger I'm actually looking for. Good to know I need something that can hit 60v. I want to have a charger at work and home, so was figuring a second 2A charger for overnight charging...

Looking for 2nd Charger for A123 pack

I'm looking for a secondary charger for overnight charging on my 48v(/52V) 13.5A A123 pack (my main charger will stay at work). What do you all recommend are for a cheap low amp charger. Ping? Hobby king? Thanks!

First build help: Know the kit I want, but which bike?

Cool, I'll have a look at the Walmart/Canadian Tire bikes. I don't mind if the battery is a little small as I'm happy to do a fair bit of pedaling, and at least the limited range will keep me from getting too lazy... though I just finished installing a Supercharger in my car, so I'm already...

First build help: Know the kit I want, but which bike?

Thanks all! Seems like the clear consensus is to a) get the Trek, and b) only ride full suspension. ;) For my first build it sounds like Trek is the simplest way to get up and running quickly. I wish there were bikes like these lying around for $250 up here, but it's slim pickings finding a...

First build help: Know the kit I want, but which bike?

Hi all, apologies in advance for another "newbie what-bike-do-I-get" thread ;) I've been lurking and reading for a while now, and am about to pull the trigger on a build. I'm pretty set on what I want for motor (the cellman combo: Mac 8T 1000W kit with 52V 11.5Ah A123 square pack). The only...
