    LightningRods mid drive kit

Not sure, according to the CA, peaked at 1 KW ( on takeoff ) but hover around 200-600w when cruising at 30-40 kmh. The hub riders have commented on how quiet it is, we were all expecting it to be noisier. I haven't really used it off-road much, mostly clear fire-trails and parks. It gets...

ebike vs ICE Vehicle Cost Comparison Spreadsheet

Insurance, rego and servicing are the BIG ICE costs that make an ebike a no brainer in my area if you are within 20-30 Km of your workplace.

Direct drive non-hub vs hub efficiency

Hi, For the GNG 'big block', I'd imagine you would run it on the left side on a single chain to the rear wheel. Thus, it would perform as a hub but with the motor on the frame its sprung weight rather than unsprung weight.

Newbie - First e-Bike build - need advice

Hi, I have a GNG middrive kit which has dual free-wheels. This means that on the GNG kit, you can pedal the bike as normal without getting resistance from the motor. I kept my back gears so I can effectively use it as a normal bike with the motor turned off. I've found I really only end up...

    GNG 450W kit - controller blown ?

Yeah, I replaced the yellow box containing the phase wires with bullet connectors and swapped in a lyen controller so I could directly hook up a CA. Gives me a lot more visibility on how its performing ( and lets me change the limits on the fly etc ). Also found the yellow hall wire snapped...

    GNG 450W kit - controller blown ?

fyi :- I eventually got this going by taking apart the controller and putting it back together. So, a loose wire somewhere but not sure which one ;) Had my first 30 mins ride today and its an excellent kit. The throttle is smooth and allows you to easily control the power to match your...

    GNG 450W kit - controller blown ?

Hi, So I've finally had a chance to get back to this. The tester indicates that the halls are working ( middle row of leds ) but the none of the motor phase less on the top row light up. Do I need to have power connected to test this or switch something on. Is it hard to rewire the phase...

    GNG 450W kit - controller blown ?

Thanks, I soldered the red keylock wire to the red battery wire and got 5V on the throttle output on the controller. However, when I turn the throttle nothing happens. I tried shorting red to green, black to green to see if this would simulate full throttle but again nothing. I noticed there...

    GNG 450W kit - controller blown ?

Hi, I have purchased a GNG 450W kit and a 48V 12ah battery. Kit is hooked up but when I turn the throttle nothing happens. I have used Anderson plugs on the battery to controller connection and have measured 53V coming out of the battery but when I measure across the red/black throttle plug...

Commuter Booster - <1kg Friction Drive

Hi, I'm trying to decide between the commuter booster and the GNG mid-drive. I would predominately using this to provide additional power to get up steep hills or long flat runs up inclines. Would the commuter booster have enough torque to get up steep hills or would the GNG, despite its...
