So I can't figure this one out after simulating time and time again. My DH Team bike I want to use for 70% Katy Trail and off road and 30% on road. I don't need to do 50 through the woods but want some big time torque so I'm thinking 3525 on 100 volts with the possibility of going to 125v. which would give me roughly 40 and 50 mph respectively. At a top of 50 amps gives me about 107 ft lbs of torque on either voltage. Now if I throw a 3540 in there at 75 and 100 volts I get top speeds of 43 and 53 ish and torque drops to 81 and 86 ft lbs.

I have a BMC V2 Speed with the 3 gen gear set and on 75v 15 ah at a max of 20 amps I get a top speed of about 32 mph and 65 ft lbs of torque. Going to 30 amps ups the levels to 35 mph and 82 ft lbs but I assume a very short life awaits that system. I have never exceeded the 20 amp range.

So if I wanna run the trails at say 25 ish mph 70% of the time what motor would be best for me? What have you guys found out with these motors in your bikes? Heat and longevity being the biggest factors I'm looking at. I need some top end for street use to get me out of harms way when I need to. The 3540 has way more torque at 30mph than the 3525 does. Never really paid attention to the slim "power band" each motor has and where it's at before.

Not sure what else to ask? I thought about the 4065 but don't want to be limited to a single gear in back.

Yeah 3525. More economy= more range. I have the 3540 and it just eats amps for breakfast and then gets a fever from it.

Excellent reply's. Make me feel better about my decision. Now I just have to wait for Kiwi to get the drop out adapters built.....

BTW this DH Team is a beast. I feel like I'm peddling a CR125 without a motor on it. Very solid bike and plush suspension. The riding position is excellent for a powered bike.

I run 24s 15ah lipo and I usually do 20 mile rides.. sometimes I have pushed it to 30 but I like to try and not go less then 80% of my cells.
I charge to 4.1 also.. just tryin to make them last longer. See mid 30's speed mph.. I weight about 240 or a bit less so im sure that slows me down.

Chalk up another vote for the HT3525. Easy choice given your 70% off road/trail and the fact that you won't shy from 24S. Good setup for a fun off/on road FS bike is 24S and HT3525.

When I rode my H3540 at 24S I had a hard time keeping the from wheel down at starts, what's the HT like at starts with 24S?

I don't have a wheelie problem with 24s on a pedel forward townie that has extra weight on the rear tire. I am running a nice Magura throttle, that might make a difference. Also the townie is a longer wheel base than most and I have the batteries in the triangle too. It will do a power wheelie at ~10 mph if I really jump on the throttle.

Pictures of my new to me large DH Team. It's actually the same size (basically!) as my XL Reign. Super plush ride to say the least. Can't wait to get those Kiwi drop out adapters.....Come on Kiwi!!!
