Ignition wire voltage.

Greetings everyone,

Working on my newest build and have some questions on the 100A MQ sine wave programmable controller.

Can I use a 12v signal for the ignition switch? If not, any thoughts on a work around.

Already build a 4 channel RF receiver for lights and stuff. Was hoping it could also turn on the controller.

Thanks

You'd have to test, but almost certainly the "keyswitch / ignition" / KSI wire has to be hooked to battery voltage to work. Normally this wire simply supplies battery power to the low-voltage power supply LVPS in the controller that creates the 12v and 5v that powers the brain and the gate drives, etc. (which is why it turns the controller off when it's not connected to battery positive).

Sometimes it can use a lower voltage, but 12v almost definitely won't be enough. Has to be high enough to turn on whatever LVPS design they used. Potentially this line may also be used for LVC sensing by the brain, so it also may have to be high enough to allow the controller to enable itself (and if it *is* used for LVC then if it's not connected to the battery, it doesn't work, and potentially any battery meter function it has may not work either).

But you can use a signal from your RF system to turn on a relay that then connects the KSI to battery +.
