If i had money I'd send you a box full of my spare bits wheels and motors etc, I'm sure you would make use of them shame your so far away, you have been at this for a long time got a good engineering mind just need a lucky break.
Keep at it fella I got a half finished project much worse shape than that and ive lost interest and time in it, like you say life moves on commitments get in the way.
