New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I think if you have ordered the "throttle version" then it is the 8-pin version.
Without throttle it is the 6-pin version. Vlcd5 can be delivered with and without throttle.
Vlcd6 and XH18 display are both 6-pin only, without throttle.
So you need an 8 to 6 pin converter.
The firmware should be no problem and OSF is flashable on both versions.

Thanks.
Just to be clear I don't want to use the throttle or brake. I am getting an 8 pin VLCD5 with throttle. Looks like the connector from the motor will be an 8 pin connector and the VLCD6 only comes with a 6 pin connector so I will need the converter cable. Looks like I would need one of these 1 to 2 cables. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803074795903.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.230e763eKc89t4&algo_pvid=ec3de62b-5fce-4c25-ae4b-38234872dbf0&algo_exp_id=ec3de62b-5fce-4c25-ae4b-38234872dbf0-25&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000024907090385%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21USD%2116.6%2113.78%21%21%21%21%21%402101e9cf16652925625185528ecf35%2112000024907090385%21sea&curPageLogUid=qRr6n8vC3WUg

Correct, you need the 1T2 splittercable for Vlcd6, without connected throttle.
May ask why, in that case, you have ordered the 8pin throttle version, and not directly the tsdz2 with vlcd6?

I found a 36V 350W TSDZ2 at a very good price but it was only available with the VLCD5. I thought that switching displays would be cheap and easy. That does not appear to be the case. This is for my girlfriend so she may be OK with the larger display. Thanks for your help!

Normally with the 6-pin ("no throttle version") it is.
With the 8-pin version this is a bit more complicated, because all other stock display's are 6-pin.
Only the vlcd5 is available with 6 or 8-pin

No, you always need a conversion cable.
Or you must find and solder a 6 pin connector to the controller.

Smaller displays for Tongsheng are Vlcd6, SW102, DZ41 and XH18, but all are 6-pin.

Thanks, If I replace VLCD5 with the smaller VLCD6 and the 1 to 2 cable. Is it just plug and play or does he VLCD6 need to be programmed?

hey . can i somewhere buy this yellow-end cable with 5pin plug ? it's for speed sensor and stlink communication. I suspect I might have broke something inside as I'm having problems with speed sensor and occasionally with stlink communication.
on aliexpress I don't see this cable

I am not sure what you mean by "5-Pin Plug". This should be a 6 Pin plug, isnt it?

I do not know an exact replacement part, but you can buy an "extension cord" like this:
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005003632788869.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.4bb77e3d8duu6A&algo_pvid=fbbfc106-5f21-453d-8bf5-57cb1e2b3471&algo_exp_id=fbbfc106-5f21-453d-8bf5-57cb1e2b3471-13&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000026579746266%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21EUR%215.37%213.12%21%21%21%21%21%402100bb4a16657445527136558e5597%2112000026579746266%21sea&curPageLogUid=zlKufQDUkHZT
and cut that in half and use the half with the correct plug to build your own replacement.

yes I meant 6pin plug ...do you think that this extension will have exact inner wire colours?

Even if they are the same. Never rely on these wire colors, always measure the pins.

I've created the pedal axle in Fusion 360, you can view/download it here: https://a360.co/3gwHR9I
The dimensions should be pretty good but an error is always possible.

I set the axle diameter to 15mm instead of the 14.9mm they did. If it is made with the popper tolerance (h7 in Europe, maybe US have different notations) the bearings should just slide without any play.

I don't have any tools to make it but it shouldn't be that hard to get a few manufactured, the only hard part is the spline that require a custom tool, unfortunately I don't have time right now to ask around.

Bit late to the party, but can you, or someone else, modify it to not-include the doomed circlip groove at all?
That way we basically have something we could, in theory, just end into a machine shop and have made without the flaws.

While doing some maintenance, I accidentally took off the rubber seal that goes the CSK30 freewheel bearing and the spider, and now, I'm unable to get it back in place.

The seal is supposed to fit in the groove (green arrows) and is a bit longer than the groove. At the red arrow, it was folded inside the hole.

I tried to put it back in the same way but the folded part it does not stay in place in the hole..

Has anyone had this issue before ?
By any chance, does someone have a photo of this seal in place that I could refer to ?

Thanks a lot fellas :)

You won't be able to get the old one to fit without it falling out. I replaced the original with a viton seal. Perfect fit and no problems. $5 and I can send you one.

That is interesting, would you mind to share which Viton seal type you have used.

I bought them from a local shop and don't have the invoice anymore. The catch was I had to buy a packet of 10. The original seal won't fit back into the groove because it's stretched.

The seal on the far right is the original.

No problem, was curious about the sizes (inner and thickness) of that replacement ring.
On the picture is the original a lot bigger.

Don't have tools to measure but the original is bigger (circumference) when it is removed, it is stretched and doesn't fit back into the grove as there is extra o-ring. The diameter of the replacement fits the groove. These o-rings fit perfectly and the material is better quality than the original. If you're curious, $5 and I'll send you one.

Just got a new TSDZ2 with VLCD5. Hooked up the unit and am using the throttle to test it. It seems to work fine except it makes a loud whining noise when running. .

Is the motor whining only with using the throttle or will it also whine when pedaling and the torque sensor is engaged? I don't expect the motor to be perfectly quiet but would not want to use it when it is this loud. Kind of disappointed at this stage.

Is this amount of noise normal for a new TSDZ2?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0Wk6EDa5zM

I have been using a TSDZ2 with VLCD6 and no throttle with on my own bike for the past year and that unit seems absolutely silent except at maximum speed. But I have never run that motor off the bike or under throttle.

The noise is electrical, coming from the motor, and not mechanical. I'm starting to wonder if that is just the way it sounds running with a throttle with no load on the motor.

You could be right about that.
If you search for other free running tsdz2 motors on youtube, they are mostly noisy, which is nice for creatives

Thanks! I looked at some videos and that whining noise appears to be normal. I expect when the TSDZ2 is installed on the bike and it has a load it will be quiet.

is it known what colours are for speed sensor ? two wires or more ?

The speedsensor needs 3 wires: Gnd, 5V and Signal

The colorcode is the following:
Speed Sensor PINOUT:
green: headlight 6V
white: speed sensor input
brown: 5V (VCC)
black: SWIM
orange: GROUND (GND)
purple: RESET (RST)
Colors are according to this:

Always triple check! Pinlocation really should be your guidance, therefor always measure, is colors match pin location.
