I can only answer generally, as you don't specify which motor or it's wiring or specifications, so we can't know what you have there, or if it will work. If you have a link to where you bought your specific motor, it might have this information, if you don't already have it. If this info isn't available, and you have a multimeter and some time, it might be possible to test for what the wire functions are.
You mention that the motor has orange and purple wires, but then you mention orange and white wires, and only the white wire goes into the axle; the orange wire isn't specified where it goes or is from, other than a board (outside the motor? In your controller? can't tell from your post).
Does the motor have a temperature sensor in it?
If it does, is it the correct specific sensor type and version your controller supports?
If it is, is it wired the same way your controller supports? (most support wiring between sensor signal and ground, and most motors are wired that way, but either could be wired from sensor to power instead, and if they aren't the same wiring it wont' work).
If not, you'll have to open up the motor to add one inside the motor to be able to read the temperature from inside it.
Otherwise you could add the compatible sensor to whatever other thing you want to read the temperature of.
Hi. I have a hub motor with "extra" wires coming from it orange and purple. Im using a flipsky 75100 controller. Trying to get a correct temp reading from it not -73C. I know that the orange wire is connected to the board marked ntc. How would i utilize this orange wire. I cant see where the white wire goes.It goes into the axle and disappears the orange wire goes thru it all the way.
