Thought I'd post up a build thread this time as it's know the 3rd frame my bbshd has been on.

So i was riding my old cube acid frame:

And I got fed up with my ass taking the brunt of the awful pot holes roads I ride down so got a fantastic deal on a sarcen ariel frame:

And then found a post on another forum saying they tried to covert this bike and the bbshd wouldn't fit:

Well simply put they were wrong, it fitted perfectly, didn't even need any spacers. I fitted it with ease.
So after that my first job was fitting a rack to the back of the bike. Bought some clamps off of amazon and a bit of diy (bodging) later I had this:

Not the prettiest but it's nice and strong. And with a little more air in the rear shock I was away bump free.
As theirs not room to fit my 48v 20ah battery in the frame it's been in the rear rack bag.

Is there room to strap it under the downtube? (it would probably not be safe to use just the cradle to secure it, better to also strap around the entire tube and battery, though you could still mount the cradle to the tube).

(that way it benefits from the suspension instead of taking all the hits on the rack).

It would need to clear your legs/cranks as well as the front tire at full fork compression; on some bikes these won't both work at the same time. :(

So after seeing this pic :

I got the inspiration to do the same, surprisingly it'll fit 90 batteries.
So started ripping apart some old batteries:

After a lot of ummming and arhing I decided to go for a 15s and only charge the cells to 4.1. I'm running the custom firmware so 61.5v should be fine and it's give me the most power possible form my bbshd without changing the controller.

Built a plastic case that slots in nicely.

Got some more insulating tabs today so can now carry on building it.

Hadn't taken that many photos as wasn't planning on making a thread but I'll get some more pics of the bike a it is now in the daylight tomorrow.

You can see the work in progress of a custom frame battery pack for a 15s6p battery.
But what you suggested is exactly what I'm planning on for a 2nd 15s4p that I'm going to make and mount under the downtube.
I've got a solid metal case I can use that'll protect it.
I finally bought a much needed rivnut gun so will be able to secure them all nicely.

Well that's one battery done and labeled up ready for the bms. Just need to wrap it up and put a bit of padding before finshe the exterior of the box
It's a 15s6p 15ah, the cells are 10a max cont and so I've tried to make sure the cell interconnects would be up to the job but at the moment it'll only be on my bbshd so only got to provide half of that and when the second battery is connected around a quarter.

And the 2nd battery Im hoping to mount under the downtube has gone from a 52v 15ah to a 48v 25ah and now will be a 56v 15ah. It's changed as many times as my frame! It's currently sitting as a 13p5s (48v 15ah) but I'll be adding on another 2s. I've just been cleaning the strips up and making sure all the welds are OK.

I want to add the next 2 series while the bms is semi attached to check all OK before I move it over to the triangle battery. It's a jdb smart 10s-17s, I've got another coming over from aliexpress as I've been really impressed with it for the money. Especially with the overkill solar app, allows you to change all the settings you'd normally have to connect to the computer to do so perfect for me when I'm limiting the charge to 4.1v.

And yes it's all been done with the tiny spot welder. Manages 0.15 OK but I'm continually charging it back up so that's on the list to be upgraded.

Haven't finished the batteries cover yet as waiting for some sockets and a voltmeter to arrive but wedged it in to take for a test ride and was hitting over 1800w's and felt like it was holding the higher speeds a lot easier than my 48v battery. I'm running bbs-fw so it does 33a's. I'm torn between having the controller shunt modded so I can run 40-45a's or bac 855, obviously the later is 5 times the cost so is it worth it..
