Just as the title says. A motor rated for 500 or more watts (so, not those tiny 250w ones). Geared is preferred but I'll consider direct drive. 20" rim, with or without. Doesn't matter. What do you guys have for me?

We all know winding style determines whether motor will have more torque or speed (and I have read some of the "Science, Physics, Math, & Myth" thread. What a long discussion that is :shock: ). The well know Turnigy C80100 as an example. Pretty fast spinning motor, with Kv of 130. It's noisey...

Do you think that is a sensorless controller? In which case you can use the throttle now and motor should spin. Else, that white connector looks like the one but the wiring diagram shows something else. Use a multimeter and see if there is a 4.3 to 5V signal between ground and red on any...

My fix: Add more washers.

Don't ESCs have to have their throttle curve (or max throttle position) mapped first? I'd say try turning the system on with throttle preset to 100%, then after the esc initializes (beeps a few times) ramp it down to 0... and you should hear some more beeps telling you it's set. Just a guess...

Phase shorts cannot be detected easily because normally each phase is connected to one another on the inside of the motor. But if you're positive there's a phase short (phase wires are cut into and are touching each other), DON'T apply throttle else it's instant controller death. Stuttering...

For now I checked the underside of the board and found a blown trace and down the line some type of shorted voltage regulator (my guess). I will disassemble the unit further to find the part numbers. It's a dual 200W charger and I plugged in a battery backwards to port 1. It stopped working (You'd think they'd have reverse protection?!). Port 2 of the dual charger works as normal. I cracked it open. Determined to fix it. Seeing as I am able to compare the two halves, maybe it's not too...

So many of us have wheelie machines, right? :mrgreen: Even with a throttle tamer and extended swing arm, my bike still tends to wheelie at take off! So I'm proposing some type of device that detects when the front wheel lifts off the ground and either cuts or suppresses the throttle signal...

I rebuilt my wheel and in the process also redid my cromotor wiring harness. Replaced a few hall sensors and added a temp sensor. After it was all done I mounted the wheel, started my bike up as normal (with regen wires connected this time) and spun it up to test regen. It works! :D Problem...
