LEE Iaccoca 36 Volt 500 Watt needs Controller? Help a girl o

The weld was exactly where the role pin was inserted, except I had the welder do 3 spots 120 degrees apart. The failure mode is a slipping spindle, just like all the other failed hubs that I have seen. The role pin is a great idea. You will probably fatigue it eventually as it acts as a spring...

LEE Iaccoca 36 Volt 500 Watt needs Controller? Help a girl o

Guys and Gals I was PMed to participate which I'll gladly do. I read this post. You so far you have gotten excellent help from this forums. You ruled out the controller being the culprit. the 17V output could be a problem with the throttle. It is PWM and should swing from 0-36V average based...

I picked up a 24v Lee Iacocca EVG Ebike

Haven't been here in a little while. I enjoy using my EVG bike. It is my workout machine in the dark early AM hours. The power to climb overpasses is a bonus. I admit they are a little heavy but that is part of the workout. Here is what it looks like now: The electronics is a bit under...

    Fun with a Heinzmann

I haven't been here in a while. I still get and respond to private messages. If you have any questions on the EVG please PM me. The safety thremal switch in the heizmann motor is just a switch. It is for signal level currents/voltages and can't handle higher voltage or currents. The beeping...

    Fun with a Heinzmann

You can run the 24V Heinzmann on 36V but you should definitely hook up the thermal sensor. It will occasionally trip and protect the motor. The 36V Heinzmann that I have don't have the thermal sensor. I am guessing they used bigger wires inside to reduce the heat generation.

What is the most cost effective starting point today?

Lowest cost is: brushed hub motor (front or rear). A large switch or relay SLA batteries. A mountain bike Look for a used ebike from EV global. They can be had for under $500.

Air cooling to good to be true?

Make sure that the air is not cooling the thermistor directly. This can give you low false readings when there is a lot of air going in. You need to insulate the sensor from the air so it is measuring the core temperature only.

Who sells brushes for the 24v EVG heinzmann rear motor

I never needed to get into the brushes. They always seemed long enough. Let me know what you find out.

My new $100 Craigslist bike. The Moto-Guzzi of e-bikes??

This is a pedal 1st controller in the bike. It must detect the cracks moving via a sensor on the pedal before it will allow power to the hub. Perfectly normal and the law in Europe.

My new $100 Craigslist bike. The Moto-Guzzi of e-bikes??

I have bought a front wheel from this bike for more than you paid for the whole bike. Congradulations. The front hub motor is brushless sensorless design. It is hard to find a generic controller for it if the original controller is not working. Let me know when you put in new batteries. You...

    Overvolting a Heinzmann...

If you plan to overvolt the Heinzmann please use the thermal sensor as a controller cutout. This is safe. 20A limit is also pretty safe. The 24V motor was rated to 17A steady state and 25A surge.

    Iacocca ebike

I have carried mine many times on a rear trunk mounted rack. They are heavy. I lighten the load by removing the batteries and wheels. Use a lot of bungies. Excellent ebike. You will love it. Let us know if you need help getting it going.

    Popped my first controller! (BD36)

Hi, I wouldn't fault Dogman for this failure. There are many factors for bad controllers. Wearout is not a big factor in solid state electronics. The fact that it worked for a while says that Dogman deliverred a working controller. Maybe the install location or use stressed it. I think you...

    Over volting EVGlobal bike?

That will work. excellent idea for the temp sensor use. The throttle is the 5k type. You need a working controller to get the LEDs to work properly. Most controllers take a hall sensor input throttle. They are avialable with LEDs. It would take a lot of work of get the old one to work on your...

    Over volting EVGlobal bike?

Hi, Ian and Dogman, thank you for all the credit. I have been helping people with EVGs for a while. I have also taken apart the controller and was lucky 1 out of 3 times with their repair. A few words of caution. The system is designed for 24V. The controller has a poor regulator design and...

    1 motor + 2 controllers (1 at a time) for sea-to-sea bike

You will still have a problem if it is wired. FET that are off and diodes in the other direction. I agree you should use a connectors at least on the motor output and hall sensors.

    Controller goes poof

Since it is brushed, why don't you test the motor without the controller. Connect the 2 wires directly to the battery. You wont hurt it in either polarity but the hub may only rotate in one polarity and freewheel in the other. Start with lower voltages just in case there is a short. I would...

    heinzmann brompton help needed

Yes. I work with power electronics. The first rating is usually the current and the second V divided by 10. You will see from the attached spec that IRF4110 is a superior NFET if you are going to the trouble of replacing them.

    Bosch 36V fatpacks opened up

Here is a suggestion for those who are using SLA chargers that go up to 43V. By adding diodes in series with the charger you can reduce the voltage. Every diode will reduce it by 0.6V. So by adding 2-4 of them you get close to the ideal voltage. You still have the burden of turning the...

    EVG on 123`s

Hi, I own EVGs and love them. Have your figured out the schematic for the charger board? Such that you were able to adjust the current and voltage? You should cross post this thread in the electric bike section. Thanks,
