    Mistake while wiring controller

You say "these 2 connectors" but then say "not the same as the image", kinda tough without more information. The only connectors with that many wires would be the motor/hall plug and the display plug.

    Power cuts out

Check the connections from the battery mains to the controller, is it a setup that involves metal contact strips typical on some removable battery setups?. With a poor connection and the heavy load imposed by acceleration the controller gets "starved" for current and shuts down. Mine would do...

Connecting ebike controller (ignition wire and thumb throttle wires)

Oh, OK I learned something new today then. With mine it initially started rotating in the wrong direction so I used the "self learn" wire and corrected it. I'm on the fence about these brainpower units, with the LCD display you have a lot of information but it's unclear how accurate it is. It...

Connecting ebike controller (ignition wire and thumb throttle wires)

Maybe I can help, I just installed the same controller, my motor, like yours, has no halls, just the 3 phase wires. It still works but will "shudder" far a second or 2 sometimes at startup, this is normal and giving a slight pedal boost upon starting minimizes this. Try and make sure the 3 phase...

    Brake connectors

OK, I see, just find 5 V somewhere and then they can be adapted. I might just use the existing wiring to hook up a kill switch which would be a simpler solution, thanks again for the help and info, I've been without my bike for 3 weeks now, I'm getting the itch to ride and check out this new...

    Brake connectors

Thanks for the swift response, I grabbed my DMM then taped one lever shut and left one open, surprisingly, I saw no continuity between ANY of the 3 wires on either side. F-it, I'm just gonna do without them for now.

    Brake connectors

Bought a Brainpower 350 watt controller to replace the original, throttle, phase, PAS all hook up fine but my brake cut-outs were a 3-wire connector, ( red, green, black) the new connector is a 2-wire, (Black+white). So I'm assuming the original worked on some sort of hall arrangement?, is it...

    Motor doesn't spin freely

I replaced a bad mosfet on my controller, it lasted 3 months then the entire controller wound up going into a dead short. I then just replaced it since these 350 watt controllers are fairly cheap. The mosfet I used I got off Ebay.

    eBike related abuse

You might want to check local laws, FL has an ordinance where E-bikes are not allowed on the sidewalk, I know because I got a $168 ticket or doing so. I thought the cop was full of shit but looked it up and there it was.

My ebike sometimes feels like it’s shorting out

Yea, does sound like an intermittent short, power down the bike, disconnect he battery and using a meter gently move the wires around. For what it's worth blown mosfets can be replaced and they are cheap on ebay, you will need basic soldering skills and equipment.

    Troubleshooting hub motor

Yea, riding the bike, (to me) is fun, driving my car is not, (except when it's raining!). You also see a lot more, about a month ago I spotted a huge 70" TV box in the trash, behind it was a 60" TV, no cracked screen or anything so I went home and got my hand dolly and brought it home. A $25...

    Troubleshooting hub motor

Most of the time I use it for quick errands like coffee or eggs, I only live about 3 miles from the most distant store and here in FL it's flat as a pancake, even a 250W Bafang does just fine. I do, at times, think about upping power, I know a Bafang can take more than 250W, (in short blasts and...

    Troubleshooting hub motor

Update.........SUCCESS!!!!!! installed replacement Mosfet from Ebay, (5 for $5.50) and she fired right up!. Now as we know these 250-350 watt controllers are dirt cheap but for someone sporting a 1000W model they can be sporting 12 Mosfet's and are not that cheap. Now to assemble everything and...

    Troubleshooting hub motor

With a gear hub if it's spinning forward, (while not under power), it freewheels on the planetary gear set. I might try it out just for shits and giggles though.

    Troubleshooting hub motor

I don't know if that would work with a geared motor or not, luckily, it seems to be a controller issue. With the way it's stuffed into a clamshell plastic housing behind the seat airflow is all but impossible so I'm surprised it lasted 5 years. The bike saves me considerable $$ in gas and wear...
