    Fried Controller

Luckily it was fresh water, Greer's Ferry Lake in Arkansas. I got ahold of Edward Lyen and I will be sending it to him to be repaired, hopefully. I can't wait to get my bike running again.

    Fried Controller

Yes, I reached out to Lyen but he did not respond. I do have soldering skills and a voltmeter. If nothing else, maybe someone could use it for parts.

    Fried Controller

No, I didn't drop it, I rode it into the lake, gotta watch the moss on the edge of the boat ramp, and yeah it was powered up.

I fried my Lyen 24 fet controller (went swimming, long story) and I don't have a clue how to diagnose what the damage is...anybody got any ideas?

    Landspeed Record Attempt

I just spoke to an SCTA official and he referred me to the USFRA I looked at their site and found this http://www.saltflats.com/Electric%20Rules.html so it looks like we can run after all and they run against "World of Speed Records"

    Landspeed Record Attempt

Ok got bad news, I spoke to the committee chair over the SCTA motorcycle section. There is no bicycle class, period. I don't know if the Picycle was sanctioned by the SCTA or some other sanctioning body at some other event. He suggested that we should build a motorcycle instead. The rules are...

    Landspeed Record Attempt

I'll be making contact with the guy that has the last say on design and safety later this week. I met him last year when we were trying to get the Superbird through tech. He didn't like a couple of things about the rollbar so he limited our car to 200 mph which effectively meant we could not set...

    Landspeed Record Attempt

I don't think anyone at Bonneville will know the difference between a scooter hubmotor and a bicycle hubmotor if we don't tell them LOL. And as far as midrive or hub driven they won't care they are more concerned with aerodymanic faired bikes or open unfaired bikes. So the sky is the limit as...

    Landspeed Record Attempt

John, I agree with you I think A123's are the way to go. The typical wait time at the starting line is under an hour, and they have sevarl tracks. In on of my prvious build threads I adapted inverted Showa forks from a Honda CR80 to my bike frame and they worked well although they were a little...

    Landspeed Record Attempt

Yeah I am leaning toward a hub motored bike myself. But I wouldn't be against building even two bikes or three for different classes. The pits last year were about 5 miles long and four rows deep and your daily driver would be really useful as a pit bike. The atmosphere is somewhat like a...

    Landspeed Record Attempt

The two runs don't have to made within an hour of each other, but two runs do have to be made then the times are averaged. I think $5,000.00 for a Bonneville record attempt would be bare bones. Lodging, travel, entry fees food etc. and the vehicle itself. $10,000.00 would be the minimum to be...

    Landspeed Record Attempt

As far as safety is concerned, the pilot would be wearing full leathers and there are Paramedics setup halfway down the track. A partially faired bike might be sufficient rather than using a fully enclosed fairing, that way the rider could bail off if necessary. The salt is a forgiving surface...

    Landspeed Record Attempt

John, that sounds good, I am in New Orleans all the time. Tell your son to PM me. Kingfish don't worry if this works out we'll be going every year. My friends here in Arkansas go every year and sometimes twice, including "The World of Speed" event. Doc, I am sure we can find someone to cover the...
