Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

But it isn't just a matter of what you have available, it's also a matter of the (political, social, behavioral) will to take advantage of it. For example, Phoenix, AZ where I used to live, as well as much of the SW USA, simply cries out for investment in solar power. The required capacity of...

Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

Costa Rica, where I live, produced 98.5% of its electrical power from renewable sources last year. Although about 90% of that was from hydro and geothermal, almost 10% was from other renewable sources. Dismissing the accomplishment of this small, and far from rich, country just because they were...

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Sorry about that. My post got whacked when my Internet went down. Others have since said everything I was going to, so...there's not much point in repeating it.

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Thanks, I didn't either. After reading through the thread it sounded like using the Satiator as a power supply was kind of an undocumented feature. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't over looking something obvious that could lead to problems. If I do come across any issues, I'll report back.

Mike, You were off by an order of magnitude when you claimed another vendor's "razor thin" wrench was 0.013" thick when it was 0.13" thick, and you didn't correct yourself either. A .013" thick wrench really would be useless, a .13" thick one is more than adequate for its purpose. I don't care...

The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Is there any problem using the Satiator to bench test a BBS02 motor? If I set up an SLA profile of say 54V, connect the Satiator to the BBS02 through the battery connector, and force start the charge can I then safely power up the LCD, test the throttle, brake cutoffs, view the programing of the...

Buddy, I think you're off by an order of magnitude there. The wrench is about 4mm or .15" thick. Oh, but I forgot you were just being rhetorical, marketing and all. Just make up a number that sounds good if it makes your point. Seriously, you like your bike. Great for you! Other people don't...

CHEAP NEW ORIGINAL 18650 21700 BATTERY CELLS, POUCHES AND PACKS

I just wanted to post about what great service I received from Tumich. Although he was ultimately unable to ship cells to where I live, Costa Rica, because the Post Office insisted on trying to ship by air no matter what, he went out of his way to try to find a way to make it work. It is...

Mike, Why do you assume my post was directed to you? It wasn't. I'm not promoting anybody, just trying to supply objective data about issues of price that were repeatedly raised in this thread. The only questions I directed to you were about what you actually paid, how you obtained a less than...

Ok, since price comparisons have been a significant part of this thread, and there has been a bit of a He said, He said back and forth, I thought I would try to provide some objective numbers according the websites of Luna and Lectric Cycles: Luna Cycles: Giant Stance 2 (2016) with BBSHD...

Have you seen the code in the controller or know what specific parameters were custom modified to achieve this end...

    My bike is slow...

It doesn't have to be. Just pick any of the DD hub motors and start playing around. Although you won't be able to simulate your exact motor, you will be able to see how much power is required to go certain speed, the effect of increased voltage, current, tire size, slope, weight, etc. It's well...

    E-bike battery charging while riding

It's pretty obvious that the OP just has some basic misunderstandings about physics. Whenever energy is transformed from one medium to another energy is lost, and it certainly can not be gained. There is no such thing as a 100% efficient transformation. So, using some made up numbers, here is...

    Cycle Analyst oscillating like crazy

It's simply that the symptoms you are describing remind me of what can happen when the CA is coming up against a limit and the control loop timing is a little sloppy. My old version 2.2 would surge on and off when it hit the current limit I had set until I adjusted the gains properly. You might...

First build (BBSHD/Boris X9), some battery questions

The difference between the pack voltages is simply down to what nominal voltage you choose to specify for the cells. Paul at em3v always uses the more conservative 3.6 volts per cell, whereas Luna cycle, and many others, use 3.7 volts per cell. Which cell you choose is a matter of energy...

    Surge in electric car sales

After riding motorcycles exclusively for over 15 years I have to say that the only thing that saved me was the hard won ability to read other drivers on the road. That same skill saved my butt on numerous occasions behind the wheel as well. I learned to see trouble developing, and to avoid it...

    Surge in electric car sales

Ahh, hard earned lessons from the Costa Rican roads perhaps? Although I saw a lot of morons in the States as well. I somehow have difficulty imagining an auto-drive system on the narrow mountain roads here, where large animals (horses, cows, sheep, goats), multiple pedestrians (entire families...

Driverless longhaul rigs now available, well sorta

Pacemaker software is trivially simple in comparison. Complexity encourages bugs. Hell, it pretty much mandates them. Humans will view a machine software failure that results in death much more seriously than they do a human idiot causing death. Much like they are more worried about thousands...
