    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

@juanfeli, no sorry i did not. i bought one of them cheap Sunwin 15fet controllers to take advantage of the flexible LVC and wired up the CA to that. I suspect you may have seen this page before, but if not it's a good representation of what's needed to hook one up to any controller ...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

@2old - it's mostly the stock mounting kit with a few minor mods. The stock tensioner setup (the zip tie and linear spring) is rubbish, so I drilled the tensioner mount to accept a circular spring (the type of spring found on v-brakes). Much easier to adjust. I also replaced the stock bolts...

His n Hers, newer builds, cyclone/lyen/hub/gravity fsx

Quick photos of our families bikes. They both started off as relatively cheap BikesDirect Gravity bikes. Mine is an FSX2.0, hers an FSX 1.0. Her's has a yescom 1000w48v hub motor. a sunwin 72v controller and an 18s9p 18650 pack. it will produce around 2800-3100w without too much drama. the...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

for reference, i de-soldered the lvc pad on one of the 72v controllers and it ran just fine with a 48v pack. so to confirm a question asked earlier, just soldering or desoldering the blobs does allow nearly any battery voltage (as long as the fets are the correct voltage). for fun, here's a...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Not sure what the problem is with the stock mounting brackets. I'm running 19s (around 72v nominal) at 50-60 amps and although I've broken a chain and tore up a derailleur, I've never bent the bolts as bad as that photo. Those washers actually provide very little surface contact with the...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

After giving it more thought, it seems almost illogical to sell the PCBs without the associated documents. Without them, the manufacturer is basically saying "here's a product that i wont show you how to hook up, i wont provide an operating guide or manual, i wont tell you any of its electrical...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

@markz - there's two things that would change the whole ballgame as it relates to these sunwin controllers - 1) the programming tool, 2) schematics or complete board layout diagrams. So if you are going to go through the effort of acquiring some of the PCBs, it would be even more beneficial if...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

@bsatom - I don't think anyone was claiming that 60A was a guaranteed maximum. the point was that the 45A label was a definite underrating and it was good for at least 50% more. sounds like you've even been able to push it further and verify it operates safely. good info. does it get hot in...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

@markz - the hot glue on the heatsink mount screws is to prevent vibration backout - its a good thing . The white substance is thermal paste aka heatsink compound and is used to make a surface more heat conductive - also a good thing. The PCB slides into grooves in the aluminum case so there's...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

@markz - what is your ultimate goal? the original 15fets are good for between 52-60A without concern. I've run mine at 50a with no noticeable negative effects. The 4110s have the lowest on-resistance = lower heat. The 4115s can handle higher voltage but at lower current and higher...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

@dand214 - it's most definitely programmable based on not only the presence of the programming headers on the board but also the fact that the board diagram text specifically calls out the programming intent. Of course that leaves us with one major question - how? I have a sneaking suspicion...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

@suggs - I derived the current rating from the documents I found on the Chinese seller's site. But, honestly, this thing has to be capable of much more than 45A. For example, with good fets, a 12fet controller can handle 45A (e.g. Lyen's 12fet). This thing should be good for 60+ without...

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

I recently picked up another Sunwin controller for my significant other's bike. It's the 72v 800w model but uses 15 fets and is rated at 45a continuous. That's over 3200W. Paid 25 bux with shipping. Of course I opened it up and it's nearly identical to the recent photos in this thread. White...

    18650 lifecycle data

Completely agree @hillhater - i dont expect Lipo levels of performance or LifePo4 levels of consistency. But for less than a quarter the price of a new Lipo bundle, the repurposed laptop cells are decent if you accept the limitations. On a related note, now that i have a new iCharger 308Duo i...

High Current Draw under no load - help! (CAv3/Lyen/Cyclone)

@ccmdr, you were absolutely right! Even though the motor was spinning and would start from any angle, it turns out i didn't quite have the hall/phase wires correct. It now winds up to top speed without drawing over 2.9A. It's also a tad quieter.

High Current Draw under no load - help! (CAv3/Lyen/Cyclone)

Hey all, i'm currently assembling a new bike with a Lyen 12fet controller, Cyclone 3000w mid-drive, Cycle Analyst v3 and 51v/14ah battery. The bike is nearly done and after much fumbling, i figured out the Phase/Hall wire combos that make the motor spin in the right direction and what seems...

    18650 lifecycle data

Fortunately i work for a Fortune500 company that goes through laptops like candy bars so i can get old batteries relatively easy. On the flip side, i'm at the mercy of used, abused, over-heated, over-discharged and generally poorly taken care of laptops. For my purposes, i consider any cell...

    18650 lifecycle data

My controller is set at 45A max draw, but i would say on average i only hit that a few times each ride. Most of my riding is hard packed trail and not a ton of high-current off-roading. Even my full speed runs only pull max amps for a few seconds. I was usually running down around 12-14Ah per...

    18650 lifecycle data

Last year I ran two battery packs, both 14s10p built from salvaged laptop 18650 cells. As we get closed to spring here, I decided to do some maintenance on the packs in preparation for the riding season. While I had them somewhat disassembled, I tested a handful of the individual cells to see...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Can anyone share the wiring diagram or wire colors of the Cyclone controller? I'm stuck at the moment trying to figure out how to add PAS to one of my bikes with that controller. The controllers are the same with the 1920-3000w kit or the newer 1800-3000w kit so i'd be appreciative of any...

Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Is there a benefit to mounting multiple magnets around the circumference of the wheel when using an external magnetic speed sensor? (i.e increasing pole count)? Does that provide more accurate speed readings or higher resolution or any other side benefits? Any negatives?

    $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

FYI - I borrowed a friends Lyen controller, which is based on the Infineon boards and opened it up. It uses the same mcu as these Sunwin boards! So from what I can find, the Infineon, Grinfineon, Lyen and all these newer Sunwin controllers use the same chip. We know that the Infineon and...
