Hi everyone,
I'm contemplating upgrading my recumbent with something electric to aid with my 2x26km commute. I've grown to really like torque-proportional assist on my electrified cargo bike.
I am aware of two solutions that fulfill my needs - both listed by Grin:
1. ERider torque sensing bottom bracket (good because I won't drill this frame; bad because the Q factor is awful for anything sportive)
2. TSM-A5 motor
The TSM-A5 motor looks like a really good solution to me, but I'm hoping to do it with a smaller budget (more in the Bafang G310 class). The ERider bottom bracket has an awful q factor. Fine on a city-bike style riding, but I'd like to have a fast and sportive experience. I won't drill this frame, it's too nice.

Does anyone know any other alternatives that might enable torque-proportional assist?

Thanks!

I’ve never toyed with recumbents. But where there’s a demand there’s typically commercial solutions, and it’s possible to replicate them on a tighter budget. What solution did the designers of the best electric recumbent that you possibly buy come up with?
