Hello,

i'm thinking about copper loss on pulsed current.

Let's say I have a copper wire able to hold 50A , if I have a pulsed current of 100A for half time and 0A for the other half the same wire will hold or not?
(frequency about 50 Hz square wave)

Considering the formula I2R looks like the costant current is more efficient than a pulsed current because if you double the current you have 4 times the loss , so even if you don't have any loss for half of the time still 2 times the loss of the costant current.

Yes, 100A pulsed 50% duty will cause twice the loss compared to 50ADC. Or the equivalent of 50A*sqrt(2) DC.
