Hi guys,
We are currently in the process of building a conversion for a honda VTR250 with the Enertrac 602 water cooled motor. We have run into an issue with the motor and seems to be a issue with the acceleration we cant put a finger on. When the motor is under load, it grinds and growls VERY loudly but still runs. We haven't been able to ride the motor with its full capabilities as under acceleration if you give too much throttle the motor grinds again and hesitates to accelerate. There is a sweet spot in the acceleration where if you only just increase the throttle by a little more then where it would sit while coasting the motor will accelerate (albeit slowly) with little noise.
We have opened the hub up and checked continuity to the phase wires from the stator coils to the controller end and all good. same with the hall sensors. Might be that the hall sensor has failed on one of the three a-b-c lines. When connected to the 5V controller the signal out the hall returns are between 9.87V(10V) and 0 so not really sure what is wrong with the motor!
We have tested initially with the kelly kbh12401, this controller sort of pulsed during acceleration (as in it was not linear acceleration, would speed up - then coast - then speed up - then coast).
Second test after this didn't work was with the Crystaltyte 96V90A controller to the same avail. the acceleration was linear but alot of noise even with no rotation on the motor (locked front brake).
I have been in contact with Mark from enertrac and seems hes unsure of the problem also.
Test with no load: (Acceleration has alot of noise and the acceleration is not linear

Ride test: (10-15s is where the front brake is locked but motor making ALOT of unnatural noise):

We have another 602 motor that is the air cooled edition and with the same connections to the controller we have tested and seem to have no noise at all (expected 10kw motor noise). So the issue has us scratching our heads! Has anyone had any experience with the sort of sound that are in the videos below? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Schematic is attached below

Adam
