PART951386375523590952013120695183556.jpgok i got my batteries but im facing a little problem each one has a bms onboard should i charge them individually or split them all open and just get a 10s bms board and do it like that. i was thinking for the time being i could charge them individually and just series them up 2 packs series and 2 packs parallel. ultimately i would like to do it like this 10s 2p with a proper bms. each pack has 5 rectangle cells inside. whats your take on it

I'm not sure of the answer but you may have better luck over in the Battery Technology forum here: http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=14

I'd guess that the packs own 5s BMS boards would be fine to hook up together in 10s2p. The BMS looks for high or low voltage and shuts the power off if it notices too high or low. Just balance all the packs first and it should be okay imho.

Moved, so don't start another thread.

you need to buy another two of those packs so you can make it 15S2P and assemble it into one pack with soldered connections between the cells and then use a 16S BMS, but use just the 15 channels. you can do that with the 16S BMSs from Bestechpower. that will charge to 63V 12Ah wide.

That's to much voltage for me at the moment. My setup is 36v 250w and its running OK. I just hate having to charge each pack separately oh well I guess if I can find a 10s BMS I'll be OK. I only paid 20$ each battery.

That is a great price. They are $120 each at Amazon. I guess yours are used?

brand new thru my job. My boss is a certified repair center for a lot of tool brands and he gets them dirt cheap
....each pack has 5 rectangle cells inside. ...

Wow  ..600% mark up !! Someone is making a pile at the consumers expense !
So it a 5S,1P pack of "rectangular" cells ?? .... that is unusual for Greenpower packs ... or any domestic power tool actually :?

your 36V controller will most likely handle the 63V of a fully charged 15S lipo pack.

we can show you how to add a power resistor on the input to drop some of the higher voltage before the regulator but the capacitors are 63V so no problem with them.

what controller do you use? the infineons use 75V mosfets so that no problem for 63V either and you can use a regular 48V lifepo4 charger with a 15S BMS converted from a 16S lipo BMS from bestechpower.

I know rite I was like wow prismatic li-ion awesome they are really powerful just on 2 packs I get 8miles of riding at about 18mph average speed. I'm really happy with them especially the built in BMS is very precise. All I need now is a more powerful motor like maybe 36 volt 750 watt geared hub I would probably hit close to 30mph

Those batteries has their own bms built in. Why not to use ordinary 12S or 36V charger and charge them in series? At least that could be experimented with
