JP spot welder

Looks like you are very close Rodney. Such a nice option to build your own battery in any configuration you like.

I thought that Riba had the cables made specifically to attach directly to the battery otherwise id love to use some
silicon wire like you have to make it easier to move the probes around.

Cant wait to see your final product.

If anyone really wants silicone cables and think that's worth it, they cost 30 euro meter, so yeah... Need to tell me in advance. I personally don't think it's worth it, since I don't have any discomfort welding with current cables.

How about a few of this in parallel?

Jeebus! I realize this is ES and we reinvent everything...but the cables that are provided work great. The welder is priced right and does everything needed. The cables aren't as flexible as the Sunkko cables but at no expense to me or the work. A non issue, waiting for someone on ES to solve.

Well, not bad if someone want's to try, but there are still few problem. They are still 4 times more expensive then my current cables, and they have thick isolation so it wouldn't look so nice. But if someone wants, I can provide electrode without cable, an user can crimp or solder it's own cable, I'm always open to stuff like that :)

My tips are wearing down too. Bought these as an experiment:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/181759526820?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Will let everyone know what happens.

Mine came. Nice cheap tips for soldering but definitely STEEL tips and steel in the shaft.

The tips are clearly highly magnetic, the shaft somewhat less but still there's a steel shaft. Perhaps sheathed in copper. Off to the grinder...

Great, can't wait to see the results! :)
Nope, not going to use them. Nothings broke, nothing to fix. Since every spot welder maker and site suggests using copper I'll stick with them, and you. Unless you warranty the experiment?

No go for me. The tips stick to the Nickel strip after the weld. I can see the tips getting Red hot. Giving up on this experiment and sticking to Copper electrodes for now.

How about these:

The shaft looks hollow, not sure if the the tip is hollow. Do you think these will handle the current?

How about these:
Why, I mean, those supplied work fine. What needs to be fixed? None supplied by spot welder suppliers and builders use solder tips. Maybe they know something? Just saying...

Phew, thank goodness you got your cells first Rod. I'm copying you when mine get in.

Mammalian04, I've updated my thread, I'm not sure if I'm on the right track but time will tell. 20s8p.

I think 20s is the right stuff. With the 25r cells we are using, 8p is probably enough. And we save the weight of 40 cells (trying to think positive)!

Is there a list to buy one of these or do I just wait for them to be available?

Thanks

There is a "notify" list, I will inform people on the list when I have welders available, but I'm also gonna write it here.

Riba,

Please add me to the notify list. I am ready to purchase when available.
