I just obtain a 26-in rear hub motor unbranded that has only seven wires coming out of it two are large wires and they are red and black and five of them are smaller wire blue red orange white and yellow I am not that familiar with hub motors but I was the under the impression that they had eight wires three phase wires and five Hull wires this looks like it has seven wires two being phase and five being hall. I have a brushless motor controller with a 7 wire haul connection five on a pin and three large for the phase. Can anyone assist me with this please.

I meant to say it hasn't eight wire connection to the motor 5 pin for the whole wires and three larger wires for the phase wires

I picked up this hub motor at the flea market. It only has seven wires coming out of it two large wires and five smaller wires the two large wires are red and black the five smaller wires are yellow blue white orange and red.
I'm not familiar with this I was under the impression that there was usually three phase wires and five whole wires can someone tell me what the deal is with this how to wire it to a controller that has a 5-pin hall sensor and three large wires for phase wires

It probably has an internal controller. Red and Black will be battery and the others are display and coms wires. You will need to open it to see what is inside.

It will need to be rewired anyway if you want to run it with an external controller. And you may not have much luck running it sensored, but it depends how the hall sensors are mounted inside.

That's the TDCM / Ultramotor, probably from the Stromer version with the internal controller puck. If you don't have the whole system that it was used with on the bike including the wire harness, display, etc., I don't know a way you can use that internal controller.

But they are good motors, so you can look thru my posts for the Hacking a Stromer... thread about taking the wheel apart to get the internal controller out and recable it for an external controller. IIRC the hall sensors are normal, and should just work with an external one, but you can also use it sensored (which is how I used it for most of the time).

It's also in the SB Cruiser trike thread, where I used that motor afterward for some time, and am presently using a pair of very similar UM's from A2B bikes.

There are also at least two other threads where people have de-pucked these motors and used them with externals.
