Why are there so few ICU beds?, page 17

All trials of cloth masks ( what 99% of people wear ) show that they reduce the velocity that most small particles enter and exit the mask. But cloth masks are often worn improperly as well or have bad fitment, so the results are worse than that.

So basically they're bullshit.

However, i like the myth that 'masking works' because it allows everyone to have a much more normal life vs the 'stay inside and cower' regimen we were forced into.

I hope the myth stays alive :thumb:

My experience is different. i find that talking to strangers, when i wear a mask, is eliminated.
very often, It is this talking that transmits disease in public. Of course sneezing, and coughing, and kissing will do it too. BUT, my experience is that i don't chat with the nice lady who is also selecting a pineapple. I get out of there FAST, and experts know it is the TIME of exposure that is VERY important. So with any mask, say for fun, a piece of window screen, will inform the public that i don't want to chat and pick up a disease.
Bottom Line:
1. inform public you don't want to chat
2. get out FAST
these 2 things are why ANY mask works well. An N95-99 mask is even better, if you have them, they actually very often stop the virus, and allow hospital workers to stay safe for hours, up to 4 hours - then get a new mask.

The latest news in Canada is to wear a 3 layer mask for the greatest protection.
I'd argue that 99% of people wear cloth masks, but a great majority do. Medical and N95 masks are quite common.
Time is an important factor as well as distance so get in and get out of that store, no hanging around talking to strangers.
No restaurant, no bars where people dont wear masks.

In Alberta there have been a few socially distance/20% occupancy markets/mini expo's (dog expo, xmas market) - Hold off on those, no crowds is the best.

Honestly I dont see what the big deal is, just stay home people its not that hard to do! Get done essentials, you want to treat yourself, hit up DQ for a cone AT THE DRIVE THRU!

Quebec is getting hit hard, their culture is more social and more independent that the Canadian gov't cant tell them what to do, or their own QC govt. However, same nonsense going on in Ontario big cities. Is there really a need to go to the gym, come on. Use some common sense.

I feel sorry for the grocery store cashiers and store clerks basically anyone in customer service field thats in the store. Went to a store yesterday, stock clerk and me had crossed paths trying to pass display in middle of main aisle. Either side of display was directional arrows and no one really followed.

Moral of the story: always do an odd number of tests!

https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/tesla-s-elon-musk-tests-positive-and-negative-for-virus-1.5187585

"Something extremely bogus is going on. Was tested for covid four times today," he wrote. "Two tests came back negative, two came back positive. Same machine, same test, same nurse."

"Musk, who earlier this year dismissed concerns about the pandemic and fought lockdown orders in California, said he planned to take the more accurate PCR test which must be sent to a lab for analysis.

The rapid antigen tests have gained ground in recent weeks in view of backlogs at laboratories, but they are less sensitive to small amounts of virus and more likely to deliver a false negative."

Yeah, nothing is going to stop Biden from wearing the mask of HIS choice whenever and whomever he wants.

no competition allowed for hospitals by state law
bed shortage caused by state law
and CA allowed 1 chain to gobble up everything
and they wonder why prices went up

The government allowed the hospital to buy it all up. They started off as one or two hospitals and started buying everything up, monopoly style. Blame the government, also that hospital chain is non-profit but they make plenty of profit, paying huge sums to ceo's, hospital pays no taxes, a tax loss the government allows. Land tax alone on that one hospital they said would have been $20M, then theres all the other hospitals they own and then theres income tax lost. Thank the government and regulators for allowing it all to happen, thank the politicians for allowing it all to happen. Good ole California.

Now they give a game plan for other hospitals in other states to do the exact same thing.

CA is not socialist, they have state controlled capitalism, better known as fascism
Fantastic warning to everyone :bigthumb: this is what happens with fascism
does anyone actually like the fruits of the labor of gov? Does anyone think they will get out of the way and let capitalism build more hospitals. why not combine them with hotels? mixed use not allowed by fascist leaders. they regulate everything
.
and the out of court settlement is to pay a bribe to CA of $475 million. Your healthcare $$$$$$$$ at work

Meanwhile the hospital chain made above and beyond that $500M from what patients/plans should have been priced to what the the over-charged bill was.... by billions. I mean sure, I'd take a hit of $500M if the fruits of the overprice netted $2B and more. The fines the government hands out never go above and beyond the fruits of the con. Sure $500M sounds like a big sum, but its nothing to the hospital chain. Its like stealing $100 from a cash register, getting caught and only paying back $20 with no criminal conviction. A slap on the wrist. The other cons the government pulls over on its citizens eyes, was the mortgage loan fraud from years past that led to the bail outs and yet nothing changed after that. The list is long.

Nobody is even suggesting capitalism, which would of allowed volunteers to buy the vaccine and test it, as early as Feb, replace excessive regulation

^More weird bullshit from Matt.^

I proudly live in an interesting place in California. I was born here and see not a single sign of fascism. Our small city of 40k owns and operates its own hospital. We vote for its board of directors. If I have a problem, I can, and have walked to their homes, knocked on their doors and talked it over with them. We also own and control our electric, water, sewer and waste systems. We generate our own electricity with solar, wind and geothermal and pump our own water. Our elections run smoothly.

Maybe you should save up and move to CA if you don't like where you live. It's not my fault you can't live here. CA is expensive for a reason. BTW even though I only live 90 minutes west of LA, I don't consider it part of California. LA is a totally different lifestyle. Everything east of the Gaviota tunnel is strictly off limits for me.
